Teamfight Tactics: Learn Ranking Secrets with Sett from the Masters

It's surprising that a composition thought to be outdated like Sett is making a comeback in Teamfight Tactics.

If we look at the strong compositions in Teamfight Tactics right now, we will see a common point that they are all based on ranged carries. Of course, this also leads to the popularity of Assassin compositions as they counter this type of carry. The consequence is that compositions based on 1-cost champions at 3 stars are gradually becoming less effective as they cannot compete in late-game power against both of the aforementioned types of compositions.

However, the case of Sett is different as this champion’s ability provides both damage and decent defense, allowing him to “carry the team” at the moment. Of course, playing a composition around Sett is not easy at all, and the following tips will help you maximize the power of this piece.

First, we need to recognize when is the right time to use Sett. According to the sharing of masters from China, if you can upgrade Sett to 2 stars and have Shen after the first 3 rounds of monsters, you can aim for this composition. Additionally, you need at least a Bow if you want to effectively operate the champion Sett.

Not stopping there, the Quicksilver is also an extremely important factor to help Sett in particular and the Dragon Riders composition in general maximize their power. The trick here is to equip at least 2 Quicksilvers for Sett (early game) and Xayah (late game) to ensure they deal damage comfortably. You might even want to equip another one for Shyvana if possible, as this champion is also very sensitive to crowd control effects.

Returning to Sett, this champion only has 2 “core” items which are Quicksilver and Guinsoo’s Rageblade. The Death’s Sword is no longer a must-have item for this character, and you can replace it with Giant Slayer or Infinity Edge depending on the game situation. Additionally, Sett’s positioning is quite important; this champion should stand next to Hecarim to benefit from crowd control capabilities.

Regarding how to obtain the technology cores, both the Rampage and Foot Fire upgrades are of course the most suitable for compositions using many Dragon Riders. Additionally, you can also use cores that provide Dragon Rider Emblems or Knight Emblems to make the composition sturdier. Other cores you should consider using include Pandora’s Box and Recycling Plant to obtain optimal items, and Pandora’s Waitlist to help upgrade Sett and other carries faster.
