In TFT Season 7, champions that cost 1 and 2 gold are quite strong and effective in various team compositions. In fact, champions like Sett and Ezreal are often favored over more expensive champions simply because they have stable power and can easily reach 3 stars to maximize their potential. However, if not used correctly, these champions can completely “fall off” towards the end of the game.
But with 1 and 2 gold champions still untouched by nerfs, players can take the opportunity to experiment before Riot takes action. One of the team compositions proving to be quite effective is Ezreal combined with Protector.

Overview and Operation
Ezreal is a champion belonging to the Dragon – Ranger trait. Although it only costs 1 gold (much less than Twitch or Ashe), Ezreal is one of the highest quality pieces in the Ranger trait, probably only second to Xayah. In fact, Ezreal is rated highly because he can cast his abilities continuously. Additionally, Ezreal can be equipped with a variety of items, from damage and attack speed items to Blue Buff, which can also be effective.

The needed Augment for this composition should be ones like Elemental Wheel (to help restore energy), Luden’s Echo (to turn Ezreal’s damage into area damage), or Fireball (to reduce healing and deal burn damage to opponents). Additionally, augments that provide Ranger or Protector emblems will also be effective.
In the early game, players will definitely be able to acquire stable Protector champions like Leona, Taric, and Ezreal to handle damage. If you get a 2-star Ezreal early, it will be a significant advantage. Additionally, adding Qiyana is also necessary to activate the Dragon trait.

In the mid-game, players need to have at least 8 Ezreal to roll for the remaining Ezreal and combine him into 3 stars. Additionally, other Protectors like Thresh or Braum should be brought into the match. During this phase, players should also consider bringing Ashe or Varus into the composition to activate the Ranger trait, providing additional damage and control capabilities (if using Varus).

In the late game, players may consider replacing Leona with Idas in case there is no Protector emblem. Keep Braum and Thresh to ensure defense and control capabilities. However, if there is a Protector emblem, you can immediately deploy the 6 Protector composition by equipping the emblem to Ornn or Hecarim – both champions are very strong in control and area damage.
The composition at level 9: Leona – Braum – Taric – Idas – Thresh – Hecarim/Ornn – Ezreal – Xayah.

Strengths and Weaknesses
This composition requires the presence of trait emblems (Protector), making it situational. Additionally, since this is a solid defensive composition, it will need standard damage items for champions like Ezreal and Xayah to deal enough damage at the end of the game to take down opponents. However, this is a composition worth trying, especially for players who want to “switch it up” after a tiring period of spamming the same build.
