Gumayusi’s Call
As known, in the recent match against KT Rolster during the opening game of both teams in the LCK Summer 2024 playoffs, T1 convincingly won with a score of 3-1. This victory not only secured T1’s advancement but also showcased the excellent spirit and high performance of the players. Specifically, Zeus achieved a pentakill in this playoff round with the champion Olaf. However, after the mic-check from the match was revealed, viewers realized: Zeus almost lost his pentakill when he and his teammates were about to retreat. And Zeus’s performance only became a reality thanks to Gumayusi’s significant contribution.
Specifically, in the mic-check segment, 4 out of 5 T1 members agreed to retreat, and the only one still calling to engage was Gumayusi. The 2002-born AD Carry from T1 continuously urged his teammates to charge in, and just as they were becoming aware of the situation, Gumayusi’s Nilah executed a beautifully timed ultimate that controlled 4 out of 5 KT members. Zeus and Faker had previously assessed the situation as unfavorable for a fight and were inclined to fall back to the Mid Lane.

Gumayusi’s Necessary Boldness
In fact, this is exactly what T1 and Gumayusi, in particular, are known for since the 2023 World Championship and during the phases where T1 under ZOFGK performed well. Although Gumayusi is an AD Carry, he often showcases bold plays. Not only does he provide advantages for T1, but he can also overwhelm the opponent’s morale. Perhaps fans remember the moments when he used Draven or Aphelios, even willing to Flash in to secure kills or use crowd control abilities on enemies.

A bold AD Carry is also a playstyle that is quite rare in the LCK, but Gumayusi is demonstrating it very well. With a smooth opening match, many fans are looking forward to T1 maintaining this excited mentality to secure a spot in the 2024 World Championship as well as compete for titles in this Summer Split.
