After a long break, especially following the conclusion of VCS Winter 2021 and the SEA Games 31 qualifiers for League of Legends, VCS Spring 2022 has officially kicked off. In this season, apart from some top teams like GAM Esports, Saigon Buffalo, or the defending champions of VCS Winter CERBERUS Esports, the rest of the teams have seen some changes. Notably, teams like SBTC Esports and Team Secret have almost completely revamped their rosters.

On the opening day of VCS Spring 2022, there were two matchups: Luxury Esports vs. Burst The Sky Esports and SBTC Esports vs. Team Secret. All eyes were on the match between SE and TS, as these two teams have a lot of connections with each other. Specifically, in the transfer period after the conclusion of VCS Winter 2021, SE took the captain DNK from TS. However, TS also added three players who are former members of SE, including Artifact – who is also a former member of TS, Hiro02, and Penguin. Fans even joked that this was a match between SE 1 and SE 2, as both teams know each other well and have exchanged players.

However, while SE’s players still appeared to struggle just as much as in VCS Winter 2021, TS displayed a completely different face. Artifact returned to his old home while Hiro02 resumed his familiar top lane position and quickly regained his form. Penguin always had the potential for creating opportunities. And on this day, this trio, combined with Eddie and XuHao in the bot lane, easily crushed SE.
In both games, TS completely dominated almost every position compared to SE. Notably, the “repayment” from TS’s top lane with the trio of SE veterans was perfect. Hiro02 didn’t even die once, boasting a “perfect KDA” of 10/0/2. Meanwhile, Artifact and Penguin made significant contributions to TS’s strategy, and Artifact even achieved a Quadrakill, marking a flawless debut day.
It is too early to talk about SE’s fate this Spring, but their poor performance against TS is truly alarming. Celebrity is still good, but he is too isolated. If SE’s stars do not regain their form soon, this team may indeed have to consider the prospect of continuing the relegation battle by the end of the season.

In the match against SKY, LX also secured an easy 2-0 victory, consistent with their good form since the SEA Games 31 qualifiers. With what they’ve shown, LX will continue to prove themselves as a formidable opponent for top teams like GAM, CES… in this VCS Spring 2022.
