A few days ago, the VCS organizing committee announced some very important news for the Vietnamese LoL community. Accordingly, the finals of the tournament will be held for the first time in over 4 years at an offline venue with an audience (expected to be 2000 people). Immediately, this information excited the audience tremendously. Even the KOLs, hosts, and commentators of the tournament were very enthusiastic and nostalgic. After all, everyone remembers the vibrant, passionate moments that previous VCS matches brought. Not to mention, this can be seen as a “healing” method for the audience after a tumultuous Spring 2024.

However, this also means that VCS still does not have a proper studio or arena for Vietnamese LoL. Notably, a new venue to replace GG Stadium has been teased for a long time, and even some images related to the “VCS wall” have been posted. However, up to now, everything remains just rumors within the community. Meanwhile, organizing the VCS Summer Finals 2024 at Nguyen Du Arena is merely a situational decision.

Bringing the Summer Finals to an arena is, of course, great news as the audience can finally watch an official match after such a long wait. However, looking at the bigger picture, this may be a temporary plan that the organizing committee might consider in the long term if they cannot bring a real arena to the audience. After all, building a complete arena will require much more time, effort, and cost than just renting a specific location and organizing it to the best of their ability.

However, looking at the positive side, this may be a “teaser” for the future. After the conclusion of VCS Summer 2024, the VCS organizing committee and Riot will have a long period (about 4 months) to start preparing a new arena to ensure it is ready for the Spring 2025 season. If this is true, of course, the biggest beneficiaries will be the VCS audience – those who have waited too long for a grand arena for the region.
