MVKE’s Loss Sparks Outrage in Both VCS and LPL
On October 8th (Vietnam time) during the ASI 2025 tournament, the League of Legends community witnessed several surprises. First, there was an “earthquake” when GAM defeated JDG – a very strong opponent, which can be said to have completely surpassed the VCS representative. Next, there was almost another “earthquake” when MVKE had numerous opportunities to defeat NiP. However, MVKE’s match ended up igniting anger among VCS and LPL audiences for reasons beyond gameplay.

In the decisive match, when MVKE had a certain advantage against NiP and both teams were surrounding the Baron area, MVKE suddenly experienced a network drop right as they initiated a team fight, losing 2 valuable shut down kills to NiP, along with the Baron buff. The NiP team itself realized there was a problem, but instead of pausing the game, they pushed forward to finish the Baron, allowing MVKE to pause only after.
Given that the ASI 2025 is an online tournament, the network drop could not be chrono broken, and of course, once NiP had the advantage, they faced no difficulty in closing out the game. MVKE’s loss was unfortunate, and both the VCS and LPL communities erupted in anger.

– I have lived to see the day when we, a team that always looks down on the Major region, competing with LCK, wanting to defeat T1, had to rely on network drops to win against a VCS team that couldn’t even make it to Worlds.
– LPL has found the way to defeat Faker.
– Why was the MVP awarded to Leave? The network modem should get the MVP.
MVKE’s Loss Explains Teams’ Attitudes Towards ASI 2025
The reality is that teams participating in ASI 2025 are not truly at 100% performance and focus. Moreover, perhaps because this is just an experimental tournament conducted online, the rules and infrastructure have not been optimally invested. Continuous issues during gameplay as well as during broadcasting are evidence of this, and MVKE’s unfortunate loss is perhaps unavoidable in a tournament filled with many amateur elements like ASI 2025.
