On the evening of June 21 (Vietnam time), Weibo Gaming faced off against the formidable opponent Royal Never Give Up. This was the second major challenge for SofM and his teammates in the LPL Summer 2022 group stage, and it can be said to be one of the toughest tests.
Unfortunately, on a day filled with misfortune and critical errors from key players, WBG could not secure a victory against RNG, although at times, SofM and his teammates ignited hope for an unexpected result.
Nevertheless, the efforts of the WBG members in the match were commendable. Facing a tougher opponent, WBG did not appear to be outmatched at all. In fact, in Game 1, SofM and his teammates could have secured a win if Angel and ON had not made mistakes during critical moments.
Notably, SofM was the player who received the most praise from WBG. With Viego in Games 1 and 2, the “Vietnamese Jungle God” delivered an outstanding performance. Throughout Game 1, SofM’s Viego only went down twice, both during key team fights that decided the outcome of the match. Additionally, in the match against RNG, SofM reached the milestone of 3500 assists in his LPL career.

On the RNG side, Breathe was the name that received the most acclaim from the League of Legends community. Additionally, many fans even compared him to his predecessor Bin. According to various arguments, Breathe has contributed much more to the overall gameplay than Bin. Notably, one of Breathe’s most remarkable strengths is his effective use of tank champions. In Game 3, Breathe’s Sejuani achieved a solo kill against TheShy’s Mordekaiser in the top lane, paving the way for RNG’s victory.

Losing to RNG is not necessarily a disaster, but it is important for the WBG players to learn lessons from this defeat. They also need to maintain focus and seriousness in every other match, similar to their encounter with RNG, if they hope to secure a spot at the upcoming 2022 World Championship.
As for RNG, they demonstrated the mentality of champions, and rookie Breathe is showing good integration into the team. Certainly, the “Royal Legion” remains a strong contender, not only for the LPL Summer 2022 championship but also for the 2022 World Championship in San Francisco later this year.
