A few days ago, Riot Games officially introduced a new skin line in patch 14.14 called the Super Beast Squad. The characters featuring this skin include Xayah, Jinx, Yasuo, Seraphine, Yuumi, Leona, Illaoi, and the new champion Aurora. Additionally, characters like Bel’Veth, Briar, and Aatrox will also have “villain” skins to face off against the Super Beast Squad. With the gathering of many beloved champions, Riot’s upcoming event is highly anticipated by numerous League of Legends players.
Therefore, when patch 14.14 was opened for testing on the PBE server, many content creators “landed” to experience this skin line. However, the surprising thing is that Yasuo in the Super Beast Squad skin has unexpectedly been discovered to have extremely powerful abilities. Specifically, this Yasuo will have the ability to create a multitude of moving whirlwinds around him along with a gigantic Wind Wall.
Not only Yasuo, but Jinx has also been discovered to possess incredibly “overpowered” skills. Specifically, Jinx’s machine gun can continuously fire in multiple directions without being limited by attack speed. This ability of Jinx is so powerful that YouTuber Vandiril tested allowing Jinx to “speed run” destroying towers in a traditional 5v5 mode. The result was that she could finish the game at just 1 minute and 20 seconds.
It is important to note that Riot Games had previously created videos showcasing similar overpowered abilities for Yasuo and other champions in the past. However, this was just an April Fool’s joke created by Riot employees. Now that we are in July, it seems unreasonable for Riot to use this joke again.
After some investigation, the community discovered the real reason behind the powerful skills of Yasuo and Jinx. According to “bug saint” Vandiril, these characters are experiencing a bug and possess abilities from a new game mode called Catastrophic Invasion. It should be noted that in this new mode, players are continuously attacked by space monsters and need more special skills than usual to survive.
However, somehow the abilities that are only available in Catastrophic Invasion have appeared in traditional 5v5 and ARAM modes when using the Super Beast Squad skin. Clearly, with these traditional game modes, the “new” skill sets of Yasuo and Jinx are extremely unbalanced. This could allow players to win easily without putting in much effort.
Fortunately, the community quickly discovered this bug while patch 14.14 was being tested on the PBE server. Hopefully, Riot Games will soon fix this issue so it does not affect League of Legends when this version officially launches. If not, the introduction of the Catastrophic Invasion mode could become a real “disaster” by ruining the experience on traditional maps.
