The Rise of the Spirit Clan in TFT Season 12
In patch 14.18 of TFT Season 12, the Spirit clan is one of the clans that Riot Games has reworked in terms of activation thresholds and effects. Instead of needing 6 champions as before, players can now acquire the Queen’s Guardian Armor from just 5 champions. This is an incredibly strong defensive item for Rakan and helps the Spirit team hold up well in fights. Moreover, saving one slot in the lineup allows players to activate powerful systems like Guardian and Protector….

Not stopping there, the Spirit clan also allows players to easily transition their team composition naturally. This is because Tristana is an excellent item holder for Kalista and is also part of this clan. This helps players not lose too much power during the 4-5 stage of the match (before finding Kalista) and still have enough damage. Additionally, Riot’s significant buff to Rakan’s shield creation ability allows this unit to tank much better and create more space for the carry to take down opponents.
Building the Spirit Team in TFT Season 12
In the early game, players should start with affordable yet quality Spirit units like Lillia, Seraphine, and Tristana. Rumble and any Protector unit will be a fantastic addition at level 5. They will help strengthen the frontline of the team as well as activate the 2 Cannoneer threshold with Tristana to ensure damage output for this unit.

In the mid-game, players should pay attention and add Channel units to the team as they activate many powerful systems. Accordingly, Ezreal will activate the 2 Cannoneer threshold while Zoe will bring the 2 Mage effect (along with Poppy). Furthermore, the 3 Channel effect provides very beneficial effects for the team such as attack speed, damage, or even a rock golem for added tankiness.

After reaching level 8, players will use gold to search for and upgrade Kalista and Rakan to 2 stars to ensure the strength of the team. In case of having a lot of gold from winning streaks, players can push straight to level 9 to add powerful 5-cost champions like Xerath, Milio, or Camille. These will significantly increase the damage output of the team and help players compete for the top 1 position at the end.

Some Tips When Playing the “New” Spirit Team
The key strength of this team composition lies in its ability to transition smoothly. Therefore, players need to craft items early to ensure a winning streak right from the start. Items like Guinsoo’s Rageblade for Tristana or Warmog’s Blood Armor, Stone Guardian’s Armor for Lillia should be top priorities. Additionally, cores that provide Spirit emblems are also of great value to this composition as players can aim for the powerful 7 champion threshold.
