In the current meta, Teamfight Tactics features many compositions with extremely high-quality tank champions. Besides their primary role as tanks, these champions can also shoulder many responsibilities, from dealing significant damage to providing crowd control and even buying time.
Here is a list of compositions with powerful tank champions:
Riven Sorcerer Composition

In this composition, Riven will take on the two main roles of dealing damage and tanking. Thanks to the stats from the 6 Sorcerers’ passive, Riven becomes a “super warrior” with immense damage potential combined with a thick shield, capable of wreaking havoc on the enemy team without fearing a burst of damage that could take her down. Additionally, Garen’s Knight ability, buffed by Sorcerer, provides enough support for Riven in both tanking and damage dealing in the frontline.
In the backline, with 6 Sorcerers but no items, the backline champions will have slightly lower damage. However, with a 2-star Viktor, this champion will compensate enough damage for Riven and Garen in the front.
One more thing: Since Riven’s biggest threat is Urgot, if you encounter him, you need to position wisely to ensure Riven isn’t “grabbed” away in an instant.
Mystic Vanguard Composition

Basically, this composition is already quite familiar to players in the current meta, so we will only briefly discuss its strengths. The main damage dealer for the team will be Cassiopeia, with her Noxious Blast dealing damage over time while also reducing healing and creating shields, making her targets hard to counter.
In the frontline, the quality tank line with the activation of Vanguard and Mystic provides an additional 300 armor and 125 magic resistance. With those stats, taking down these champions will take a considerable amount of time. Especially if equipped with suitable defensive items like Thornmail, Dragon Claw, Redemption, and Guardian Angel, this tank line will become even more “beefy”.
Mystic Guardian Composition

In this composition, the tank line with the activation of Guardian and Mystic serves as an extremely sturdy wall. While they may not have the high armor of Vanguard, they provide shields based on % maximum health, making it a very safe protective barrier for the Guardian champions. With Xin Zhao as the main tank, equipped with three “legendary” items: Dragon Claw, Thornmail, and Infinity Force, this champion can significantly carry the team in three roles: crowd control, tanking, and dealing damage.
Next to him, Rakan will serve primarily as a tank focused on creating knock-up effects and dealing damage through Morello’s Evil Tome. Additionally, Cassiopeia, with the Guardian buff, can somewhat be considered a tank, as it would be very challenging to take her down if she isn’t crowd-controlled, thanks to her ability to continuously generate shields, not to mention having Karma offering support right beside her.
In the late game, upon reaching level 9, you can add Urgot to activate 6 Guardians, or you can also remove Neeko or Jarvan IV and add Urgot directly at level 8.
Aurelion Sol Guardian Composition

In the early days of its appearance, this composition frustrated many players, as simply keeping Aurelion Sol alive could lead to a high chance of turning the game around. The strength lies solely in Aurelion Sol, who can absorb damage and crowd control effects while continuously ramping up damage over time.
In the late game, you should hold onto some strong champions on the bench like Urgot, Lulu, Soraka,… for Thresh to pull down and support the team.
