Even for professional gamers, climbing the ranks is an almost mandatory task for every player. Naturally, it won’t help them much in developing strategic thinking or team compositions, but solo queue is the best place to practice dealing with unpredictable situations since many random events can occur in a ranked match.

With the skill level of a professional player, achieving high ranks like Challenger or at least Master is quite normal. There was even a time when your rank on the Korean server would determine your skill level and your chances of competing in a team. Yet, a “freak” who defies these seemingly ordinary norms exists in the LPL, the number one League of Legends tournament in the world.

Specifically, this is the case of TeacherMa, the mid-laner for Team WE, who has even been continuously losing in Platinum rank and cannot climb to Diamond. Despite this, TeacherMa and his teammates at WE have taken down Invictus Gaming 2-0 and also defeated Coach Kk0ma’s young army – Vici Gaming with the same score.

WE’s TeacherMa is stuck in Platinum rank on the Chinese server, which could impact his professional career.
Based on TeacherMa’s stream, he has been stuck in Platinum rank after dozens of matches. He mentioned that he was warned that he would lose his player title if he couldn’t get out of this rank. How will this affect WE in the current season? Will backup Shanks replace him during the playoffs?

Can’t he duo with a teammate in the team to climb quickly to Challenger?
He previously duoed with Morgan, but he has reached Diamond and the rank difference is too significant to play together.
Doesn’t he just need to create a smurf account to solve this?
I think TeacherMa is just having bad luck in solo queue and will rank up quickly later. There’s no benefit in creating a new account, leveling up to 30, and playing in Silver – Gold ranks.
Perhaps he is better suited for the professional environment than solo queue?

Team WE is having a good performance and position in the LPL Summer 2020 standings, currently sitting in 3rd place with 3 wins and 1 loss. TeacherMa himself may not have exceptional skills, but his ability to time his abilities perfectly is extremely good. In summary, when a team is performing well, there’s no reason to replace someone just because of the “crazy” reason that they don’t meet the required rank.

Hopefully, TeacherMa will have better luck in his upcoming solo queue matches to reach the rank required by the team.
