Since the release of patch 12.2, the meta of Teamfight Tactics has changed dramatically even though this is the final version before the mid-season 6 update. After about a week of battling in the Challenger rank on the Korean server, T1’s “super player” – Bebe872 has shared some very practical guides. Basically, the meta of patch 12.2 will be “full reroll” and all you need to do is choose the right unit to push to 3 stars.

So why has the meta of Teamfight Tactics become like this? According to T1 Bebe872, Riot has reduced the appearance rate of 5-cost champions at level 8 to just 4%, and they have also nerfed the strengths of many other 4-cost carries. As a result, compositions that rely on saving gold, leveling to 8, and rolling for 4-5 cost 2-star carries have become much weaker and are very easy to lose. Therefore, players (including high-level players) have to turn to reroll compositions in this patch 12.2.

Not stopping there, most 1-3 cost carry champions only possess attack abilities from their skills or traits. Therefore, they are easily countered by champions that are versatile in attack, defense, and control with a cost of 4-5 gold. Clearly, when these champions are devalued, reroll compositions will rise because the biggest counters no longer appear frequently.
And in reality, just as T1 Bebe872 shared, most strong compositions with the highest top 4 rates in patch 12.2 all apply the reroll playstyle. Notable among them are variations of the Empire composition where both Swain, Talon, and Samira become extremely powerful carries when achieving 3-star level. With the substantial additional damage from the Tyrant effect, you can deal massive damage even when starting with defensive items.

In addition, the Twitch – Chemtech and Marksman – Guardian compositions are also team comps that the T1 “super player” recommends you use to climb ranks. The common feature of these compositions is rerolling at level 5 to push 1-cost carries to 3 stars as quickly as possible. With an extremely low purchase cost, these compositions can power up early on and help players maintain health very well during the mid-game phase.

Additionally, some 3-cost reroll compositions like Shaco, Malzahar, and Cho’Gath can also be used if you are competing for 2-cost champions. However, Bebe872’s advice when playing these compositions is not to rely too heavily on acquiring a 3-star 3-cost champion. If you find yourself rolling without obtaining your carry, leveling up to 8 and using other high-value carries will be a good way to find opportunities for survival.
