For various reasons, the champion Gangplank is highly sought after and widely used in the current meta. Therefore, understanding the strengths of compositions surrounding Gangplank is quite beneficial, as “knowing your enemy and yourself leads to a hundred victories in a hundred battles.”
Here is a list of some compositions that can be used with Gangplank:
Saint Fighter Composition with Artillery
In this composition, the main damage source of the team will be Gangplank, Miss Fortune, and Ziggs. Among them, Ziggs plays the most crucial role as the “mana pump” for the team, and secondarily, he stuns anyone who approaches Gangplank. Miss Fortune will help clean up any remaining enemies after Gangplank’s Cannon Barrage.
Pirate Phantom Thief Composition
This composition utilizes a “Sona pump” that has weakened a bit in patch 10.10; however, if equipped properly, it still demonstrates incredible power.
First, since this is a 4-Pirate composition, it will require a fair amount of “luck” to gather enough gold and good items. After securing important items for Sona and Gangplank, you should focus on equipping Lulu or Thresh, as these two champions can carry the team strongly in the later stages.
Artillery Phantom Thief Composition
In this composition, the main early game damage dealer will be Jhin (who can be replaced by Caitlyn initially), and later, Gangplank will share this role with Jhin. This is a variant of the Marksman Vanguard composition, so you can play along that line in the early game.
Wizard Artillery Composition
In this composition, you will still play like the normal 8 Wizard setup, with Poppy and Wukong serving as the tank for the wizard champions. Later on, you can replace them as shown in the image above; as long as Gangplank activates his ultimate, he will wipe out the entire enemy team. The main carries in the wizard lineup will be Xerath and Vel’Koz, taking down any stragglers after Gangplank’s ultimate.
Rebel Artillery Composition
In this composition, the main carries over time will be Ziggs, Jinx, and Gangplank. In the later stages, if you have Artillery, you should equip it to Aurelion Sol to continuously stun across the board. Additionally, you should arrange positions appropriately for Ziggs to deal damage and take down enemies in front, activating Jinx’s passive early.
Fighter Artillery Composition
With up to 10 champions on the board, this composition can only be played in certain universes when you have Natural Armor. However, this composition will not disappoint you. In the early stages, this composition can still play like the normal Fighter Artillery, with Jinx and Lucian being the two most reliable carries. Later on, the 5-cost champions Aurelion Sol and Gangplank will continuously immobilize enemies, allowing Jinx to unleash damage and wipe out the enemy team.
Super Technology Artillery Composition
In this composition, Gangplank will serve as the “foundation” for the duo Ekko and Irelia to “carry the world.” The reason is that immediately after using Cannon Barrage, the entire enemy team will be left low on health and stunned. At that moment, Irelia and Ekko will finish off the remaining enemies who are “gasping” to secure victory.
