Despite being one of the early champions of League of Legends, Lux is among the few champions who have retained her essence and skill set while most champions from her era have undergone various adjustments. Not only has she been minimally affected, but Riot has also considered buffing her several times; however, her overwhelming strength in lower ranks has made it impossible to just buff their “darling” outright.

In patch 10.10, in the first announcements, Riot Games aimed to buff Lux in the Support role. However, due to heavy community opposition and partly because her stats were already quite good, they retracted this decision. Nevertheless, in patch 10.11, things might be different as Lux is once again on the list for buffs. Additionally, plans to strengthen Marksmen have also been announced for patch 10.11. Specifically:

Riot Mark Yetter – Project Director of League of Legends: “Overview of patch 10.11, the objectives have been set and specific updates will be ready to implement tomorrow. The mid-lane adjustments and system updates will not be included in this patch but are still in the works. Of course, there’s also THE BEAR.”

The first notable point is in the power upgrades for the bottom lane position; specifically, Riot is providing Marksmen with additional tools for survival with greater movement speed from items and increased base health. Four special cases are Lucian, Tristana, Vayne, and Kalista, who will not receive direct health buffs but will see an increase in late-game scaling, likely as Riot aims to bring these four champions back to being true Marksmen, rather than going to “sell candy” in solo lanes.

The four champions facing “nerfing” in patch 10.11 will be Graves, Talon, Janna, and Syndra, which are quite surprising names, while top lane juggernauts like Maokai, Fiora, and Darius… manage to avoid it. Graves is likely the most deserving of a nerf as he is currently very strong with the Fleet Footwork rune. A slight reduction in armor or a “-5 movement speed” could be the approach Riot Games takes to tone down this champion’s power.

There are two very puzzling points in the champion buff decisions for patch 10.11: first, why is Lux still being buffed, and second, why is Fiddlesticks, who is currently very strong, still favored? Regarding Fiddlesticks’ case, his damage is already quite stable, even excessive, so what Riot Games needs to do is enhance the power of his passive minions a bit.

As for Lux, she actually has a solid power level, not too weak or too strong, and can excel in specific situations. Therefore, she doesn’t need a buff based on typical numbers like win rates or pick rates. The only reason Lux might suddenly receive a power increase is that Riot is about to release a new skin for her.
