Teamfight Tactics: Effective Compositions to Counter the Dominant Galio – Giant Sion Meta After Patch 11.24b

Here are some viable compositions that can somewhat limit the power of the prevailing Galio - Giant Sion meta.

The Galio – Giant Sion – Idol meta is currently favored by players due to its overwhelming power. This composition can be seen as the “undisputed champion” in TFT season 6. As long as the right items are equipped and Galio reaches around 2 stars, players using this composition can expect to secure 80% of their victories. No matter how the composition is arranged, it’s nearly impossible to lose.

However, there are some compositions that can help players somewhat limit the power of these units. Of course, they also require specific conditions such as optimal items and the highest possible levels of the key champions. But overall, these are strong compositions that can definitely surprise when facing the current Galio – Sion meta.

To take down the Giant units, a strong source of damage is needed, and the most potent damage composition undoubtedly includes Marksmen led by Jhin. This 4-cost champion has an extremely powerful skillset that can penetrate solid defenses. Particularly, although Jhin’s damage is linear, it also qualifies as multi-target damage, capable of creating spikes at any moment.

Moreover, Jhin is considered the best champion to interact with the Giant Slayer item. However, compared to Galio, a 5-cost champion who is still very strong at 2 stars, to maximize the Jhin Marksman composition’s potential, Jhin needs to be at 3 stars or at least have 2 Giant Slayers or Infinity Edges to supplement additional damage sources alongside Jhin. Additionally, another limitation of this composition is the need for the Marksman emblem. Therefore, this composition is situational, but once assembled, the damage output will be terrifying.

Theoretically, Jhin Giant Slayer will be effective but requires the right items and Jhin at 3 stars

Chemtech – Sniper

Chemtech is a strong composition with balanced offense and defense and high burst potential. Additionally, with some traits like Chemtech Resurrection, champions from this composition can still “drag opponents along” even after being defeated. Moreover, Chemtech remains strong throughout the game, and the units synergize well with each other. Furthermore, Chemtech can also be integrated with other compositions to maximize defensive and offensive capabilities.

However, the Chemtech composition has a significant limitation: none of its champions can quickly one-shot the Giant – Idol composition. Therefore, while Chemtech can effectively “clear out” units surrounding the key champions (Galio – Sion), it may struggle to take down these two names within the timeframe before Galio casts his ability. But if you can overcome these weaknesses, the Chemtech composition is definitely worth experimenting with. The results, however, will depend on items, formation strategy, and… player luck.

8 Challenger

The Challenger composition can be seen as the weakest among these three names because there are no champions that can be considered particularly tanky. However, one advantage of the Challenger is its incredibly high attack speed in TFT season 6. Therefore, it can be viewed as offense compensating for defense. Yet, due to its fragility, this composition should only be used when equipped with the appropriate items and champions like Yone and Fiora can reach at least 2 stars, and the player has Kai’Sa.

Because of such weaknesses, the 8 Challenger composition can be considered difficult to operate and requires a lot of luck from the player. However, this is also a very strong composition, boasting a top 4 placement rate of 60.8% and a top 1 placement rate of 21.5%. Players can definitely experiment with it since if they trigger 8 Challengers, they will certainly place in the top 3 if not rank 1.

8 Challengers have a relatively low health pool but compensates with very high attack speed

Conclusion

The Galio – Sion meta is proving to be incredibly dominant, and the compositions above can only potentially create surprises or somewhat limit the power of this meta. On the other hand, they are strong enough to help players reach the top. Therefore, these are compositions worth experimenting with and will surely bring many surprises.
