Teamfight Tactics: 3 Traits – Systems Likely to be Nerfed in Patch 12.1 Due to Their Overwhelming Dominance

The first patch of 2022 for Teamfight Tactics requires adjustments to the traits - systems listed below.

Chemtech

Since its rework at the start of patch 11.24, Chemtech has consistently been among the strongest compositions in Teamfight Tactics. The dominance of this team comp lies in the fact that the Chemtech effect after the rework provides an incredibly high damage output for the backline carry, Urgot. The increased attack speed synergizes perfectly with Statikk Shiv, boosting the damage output of the composition. This dominance can be pushed “to the limit” if you manage to acquire the Chemtech Heart core.

Perhaps to reduce the power of the Chemtech trait, what Riot needs to do is slightly nerf the additional attack speed at the 5-unit threshold. Additionally, the magic resistance reduction from Statikk Shiv should also be decreased a bit so that this item does not deal excessive damage and synergizes too well with other units like Zac and Lissandra. If Riot actually implements such adjustments, the Chemtech composition will become much more balanced compared to the current state.

Divine

In the last two weeks, the Divine system has been appearing increasingly often, dominating almost all rank tiers. It is not an exaggeration to say that Divine is currently the “king of all systems” in Teamfight Tactics. Even though the appearance of the Divine trait is highly random, players can easily compensate by using strong units like Galio, Akali, and Kai’Sa, as they can occupy any position on the battlefield.

It is likely that Galio's base damage will continue to be reduced in patch 12.1

If Riot intends to nerf the Divine system, they need to reduce the additional stats from the Divine trait a bit, especially at the 3-unit threshold. Remember that Taric and Seraphine are already strong healing champions, and the fact that the 3 Divine trait provides up to 30% total lifesteal is an excessively high number. Additionally, they might also consider nerfing Seraphine’s healing ability or the damage output that Galio possesses to make these units less overwhelming.

Spellweaver

In terms of annoyance, Spellweaver is probably only second to Divine in the current meta. The strength of Spellweaver is that these units fit into too many compositions, allowing players to pivot their strategies very easily. Janna and Taric exemplify this, as they can activate a plethora of traits – systems, providing a significant power boost to players. Combined with their strong healing abilities, Spellweavers become even more frustrating.

One effective approach that Riot could consider when balancing the Spellweaver system is to reduce the magic resistance, health/shield buffing capabilities. This would open up opportunities for the Mage compositions to re-enter the meta and enhance the game’s diversity. Moreover, the healing stats of Janna and Taric also need to be nerfed slightly (around 50-100 points at 2-star level) so that their ability to protect carries is no longer absolute as it is currently.
