As the year comes to a close, various regions have begun their recap events for a tense season that has passed. Aside from the VCS region, the areas that the Vietnamese League of Legends community is particularly interested in are the LPL and LCK. While the Korean League of Legends, especially with Faker, draws attention, in the LPL, SofM – the “Vietnamese Jungle God” is competing under the Weibo Gaming banner.
Recently, the LPL region also voted for the most outstanding moments of the LPL in the 2021 season. These highlight moments are counted from Spring 2021 to the end of Summer 2021. Many of these moments were game-changing.
Among the selected events, SofM and his teammates continued to dominate with the highlight play from the Spring 2021 playoffs. It was a perfect Azir combo by Angel, which earned the mid-laner of WBG a pentakill. This is seen as a game-changing moment because although WBG (then Suning) had the upper hand against Oh My God, the gold difference was just over 4k. With just one mistake, SofM and his teammates could lose their advantage at any moment. However, Angel’s Azir combo ended all hopes of a comeback from OMG.
Other moments voted for in this list include Viper’s pentakill with Samira in the match between EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming, and GALA’s destruction of FunPlus Phoenix.
With their current roster, SofM and WBG are aiming for a better 2022 season after coming away empty-handed in 2021, which was also marred by various controversies behind the scenes. Many fans of WBG in particular and the LPL in general, along with the Vietnamese League of Legends community following SofM, hope that with “two gods” on the team, SofM and his teammates can secure their first major titles in their careers.
