With a series of changes from minor to major in Teamfight Tactics season 6.5, the meta is gradually shifting towards playing around 4-cost carries. Units that have always been strong like Orianna, Braum, and Jhin continue to be favored. Meanwhile, the “new” 4-cost units like Vi, Irelia, Alistar, and Sivir are proving to be extremely powerful. This makes the Tech – Assault composition incredibly dominant as it takes advantage of many strong 4-cost units from the new season.

For building your composition, you should prioritize the 2-unit combo of Jarvan IV and Sejuani at the beginning of the game. They will activate the Tech effect and significantly increase your frontline’s durability with the shields from this trait. Moreover, you can easily activate effects like Assault and Guardian with the aforementioned 2 units alongside cheap yet quality champions like Rek’Sai and Caitlyn.

As you progress to the mid-game, you should prioritize activating the 4 Tech threshold as it will greatly enhance your front line. Additionally, units like Swain and Nocturne are cheap, easy to find, and powerful even without activating Sorcerer or Assassin traits, making it relatively simple to achieve a winning streak. Furthermore, you should have Gnar ready in the bench so that when you reach level 8, you can immediately activate the 4 Assault threshold.

In the late game, you need to roll extensively at level 8 to find and upgrade key 4-cost units like Alistar, Irelia, and Sivir to 2 stars. They will be your primary sources of damage and tankiness in the composition, so it’s essential to acquire them as early as possible. If you can’t find Irelia, the recommendation is to aim for the 6 Tech threshold to maximize shield generation.

Another point that gamers need to pay attention to is that with the effect providing a significant amount of AD from the Assault system, items that increase attack speed should be prioritized when assembling gear. If you have multiple Giant Slayers, this composition will be very strong as the carries can deal a mixed damage that is quite troublesome for opponents. Additionally, it’s advisable not to take too many B.F. Swords when playing this composition.

Regarding the choice of tech cores, upgrades related to the Tech trait are incredibly strong and should be taken. If you feel lacking in crowd control, the Stun Blast core that stuns opponents when Assault champions deal critical damage is also a strong option. Of course, cores that provide Tech Emblems should also be taken as they help players bring more strong units onto the field.
For “core” items, Sivir really needs Guinsoo’s Rageblade to maximize her multi-target attack capabilities. You can also combine Statikk Shiv to increase mixed damage and Quicksilver to counter opponents with strong crowd control. As for Irelia, items that provide a balance of offense and defense like Infinity Edge and Bloodthirster are good choices for this unit.
