Just by having them on your board with the listed items, your chance of securing a top 1 increases by at least 20%. If you use a team composition that fits these champions, your winning chances will be even higher.
Here are the champions with the highest top 1 rates in the current meta:
Xerath – 24.9% chance of top 1
With exceptional damage and crowd control, this rarely used 5-cost champion appears most frequently in top 1 compositions. Xerath’s power significantly increases when combined with certain team compositions like Dark Star or Sorcerers.
Additionally, if you don’t have a Zeke’s Herald to block the Blade of the Ruined King and other crowd controls, a Trap Claw is also a great choice. Since Xerath transforms to launch meteors, even when knocked up or stunned, he can continue to use his skill after being crowd controlled.
Ziggs – 23.3% chance of top 1
Ziggs’s strength mainly lies in his continuous stunning abilities from Bombardment. Therefore, to further increase Ziggs’s damage, the best team composition is still Rebels + Gangplank. Ziggs’s familiar playstyle with 2 Archangel’s Staffs is to hyper-roll to 3 stars early and secure a winning streak to crush other opponents.
Moreover, Ziggs is not strong in the late game due to single-target damage; it’s essential to find items for late-game carries like Jinx, Aurelion Sol, and Gangplank.
Soraka – 22.8% chance of top 1
One interesting thing about Soraka is that this champion does not fit into any of the dominating meta compositions. From Sharpshooters, Void, Pilot Assassins, to Kayle Time Traveler, none include Soraka. Thus, the top 1 rate for this champion mainly comes from the Celestial Guardian composition combined with Sorcerers, occasionally “sneaking” a little boost from activating Mystic for all compositions.
Lulu – 22.5% chance of top 1
Like Soraka, Lulu is also not featured in the hottest compositions of meta 10.11. However, with the ability to activate Mystic and Astral, Lulu becomes a card that everyone wants to use in the late game. Most importantly, Lulu’s multi-target crowd control ability can counter many traits such as Assassins, Pirates, and Cybernetic (Irelia and Ekko).
Kai’Sa – 22.1% chance of top 1
Kai’Sa requires 3 items: Archangel’s Staff, Morello’s Evil Tome, and Bombardment to be on this list. With that item build, you can guess that the only composition where Kai’Sa can carry effectively is Pilot Assassins.
Vel’Koz – 21.5% chance of top 1
Vel’Koz needs 3 items to achieve a 21.5% top 1 rate: Archangel’s Staff, Morello’s Evil Tome, and Spellthief’s Cloak.
As the main carry in the hottest composition of the current meta – Void, Vel’Koz has been highly contested lately, partly due to his strength and partly because… he will soon disappear from season 3.
Aurelion Sol – 21.3% chance of top 1
With the Bombardment item, Aurelion Sol often appears on the board primarily to stun, while the damage role is taken care of by Gangplank in the Rebels or Pirates composition.
