To rank up effectively in Teamfight Tactics season 5, players need to utilize reasonable compositions to defend rounds. This task involves two key factors: maintaining health and conserving gold. Some compositions tend to lean towards one of these goals, but there are a few that ensure complete round defense. One such composition is Brawler – Revenant.
Overview and Operation of the Composition
Just from the name, it can be inferred that this is a quite solid composition. Although it has been significantly nerfed compared to seasons 4 and 4.5, where champions like Warwick and Sett returned but no longer wielded their previous overpowered strength, Brawlers still maintain a decent defensive capability, especially with Sett’s damage. While it may not sweep enemies cleanly or provide healing like before, it remains a considerable source of area damage and also has armor reduction capabilities.
The Brawler – Revenant composition is easy to build right from the early rounds with champions like Kalista, Warwick, Gragas, or Sett, and Brand, all of which are 1 and 2-cost champions. By round 3 or 4, players should aim to add Nunu to activate both Revenant and 4 Brawlers. Items like Infinity Edge and Bloodthirster should be equipped to Kalista; any remaining physical damage items should be allocated to Sett, while Nunu should have at least one Tear of the Goddess to use his abilities more frequently in a single round.

Because most of the main champions are low-cost, achieving 2 or 3 stars is entirely feasible with this type of composition. However, once you have a sufficient economy and level, you may consider that if you cannot roll at least a 2-star Ryze, you should focus on acquiring a Legion emblem to equip Sett and activate the 4 Legion champions already available: Kayle, Draven, and Kalista.

Alternatively, if you feel there is a significant lack of magic damage, Vel’Koz would be a great addition, but it will require quite a few AP items and an additional champion to cover, while Kalista and Brand are not particularly tanky.

In the case of rolling a 2-star Ryze, save gold to reach level 8 or 9 and roll for Kindred to complete the composition. At this point, adding Kindred will significantly increase damage when the composition has sufficient durability and control, but the damage from Kalista alone is not enough.

Strengths and Weaknesses
The Brawler – Revenant composition has the advantage of being able to hit power spikes early, as merely having 4 Brawlers is sufficient to trigger the system’s 1000 health threshold. This number is incredibly intimidating if these champions are supplemented with health-boosting or tanking items like Warmog’s Armor, Dragon’s Claw, or Titan’s Resolve.
Moreover, the appearance of the Revenant Champion adds an element of surprise to this composition. In other words, before players can even eliminate the “armored vehicles,” a Revenant with 1400 health and 140 attack damage, along with a knock-up effect, could wipe out key champions in an instant.
However, the weakness of this composition lies in the fact that apart from the aforementioned damage sources (from Kalista, Sett, and the Revenant), there is almost not enough damage to quickly eliminate the opposing team without additional damage sources like Draven, Kayle, or Kindred. Furthermore, the lack of any champion capable of diving into the enemy’s backline will allow the enemy’s primary damage sources the time needed to unleash necessary amounts of damage.

Conclusion
The Revenant – Brawler composition remains a solid choice and is entirely reasonable for players who enjoy good round-defending metas. However, in the late game, players need timely additions to prevent this composition from faltering during critical moments.
