Rell
If there were a vote on which unit is the perfect tank in Teamfight Tactics, Rell would definitely rank extremely high. This is because this champion possesses a trait – system with good tanking abilities, consisting of Ironclad – Knight. Furthermore, Rell’s skill can stun in a wide area and create shields for many champions in the formation. Therefore, having Rell on the team gives players peace of mind that their units will survive for a very long time.

Because of such strong tanking abilities and versatility, players have “abused” Rell and turned the Ironclad trait into a meta in season 5.5. Players have gradually realized that with the Ironclad trait, just 3-4 units are enough to have enough tanks in the front line. At that point, you will have many options in the backline and it becomes very easy to “roll the dice”. This is a crucial factor that helps players choose an ideal team composition that is easy to upgrade and aims toward the ultimate victory.
Ivern
In fact, the Awakened and these units have been nerfed continuously since before season 5.5 was updated. However, this race is still very strong and has a relatively solid place in the current meta. Among the Awakened units, Ivern is viewed as the most comprehensive and fiercely contested unit. It can be said that getting Ivern is like making a guaranteed profit; you will own a strong 4-cost unit along with a summoned unit that is equally robust when this unit casts its skill.

Not stopping there, Ivern is also a perfect support unit in the late game as it has the Sorcerer system and helps the entire team regenerate energy better. If you have ever played team compositions using Volibear, Garen, Heimerdinger… you would understand the importance of Ivern and the Sorcerer system. These units have extremely high maximum energy, so they need Ivern’s assistance and the Sorcerer system to continuously cast their skills.
Galio
Recently added to Teamfight Tactics in season 5.5, Galio quickly demonstrated itself as a very powerful frontline unit. With the Knight system, Galio ensures that your entire team will survive for a very long time in combat. Moreover, Galio’s Durand’s Shield skill has an extremely large impact radius and can provoke many enemy champions. With melee carries like Yasuo, Riven, Nocturne, Jax… being hot right now, Galio is an effective counter.

Additionally, Galio’s provoke effect interacts extremely well with units that have crowd control and deal area damage. Essentially, Galio’s Durand’s Shield skill helps skills from Volibear, Heimerdinger, Lucian, Teemo… reach their maximum effectiveness. For this reason, Galio has quickly become a hot unit, fiercely contested by many players, not just limited to being a tank in the Long Tribe or Vanguard team.
