T1 Holds a Frightening Historical Factor Ahead of Their CKTG 2024 Debut
In just over half a day, T1 and all teams in the group stage will enter the Swiss round of CKTG 2024. This will also be T1’s first match in this year’s CKTG tournament, and their opponent is a name not to be underestimated – Top Esports. Although this team is not considered a strong contender for the CKTG 2024 championship, they possess a roster full of surprises.
Recently at EWC 2024, TES managed to defeat Gen.G but subsequently lost to T1. However, Faker and his teammates hold a historical factor ahead of their rematch against TES.

Specifically, throughout their history of participating in CKTG, even during their so-called decline, T1 has never lost in their opening match, regardless of who the opponent is. Moreover, in all opening matches of SKT T1/T1 at CKTG, they have only faced an LPL representative once, which was Edward Gaming in CKTG 2022. What followed became history for both T1 and “Dragon Blue” DRX. Notably, EDG was also competing as the reigning champion at that time.

But T1 Cannot Be Complacent at CKTG 2024
It can be said that CKTG 2024 will be the first time T1 enters this tournament with their roster facing the most skepticism and also with the lowest performance to date. In 2017 or 2019, SKT T1 was very strong. They may not have been at their best during the Summer Split, but the SKT T1 of 2017 was the reigning MSI champion, and the SKT T1 of 2019 was the reigning LCK Summer champion. In 2021, T1 was the runner-up of the LCK Summer despite having just “changed coaches midway.”

Therefore, T1 at CKTG 2024 must not be complacent. They may win against TES, but there might also be a challenging journey ahead. T1 fans still have the right to hope that Faker and his teammates will create something special again. However, if T1 suffers a few losses or a match that makes their journey harder, it would be entirely understandable at this point.
