T1 Faces Historic Opportunity, Even Legendary SKT T1 Would “Bow Down”

T1 has the chance to achieve a historic milestone that SKT T1 could not accomplish in the past.

T1 Has the Chance to Make History

The semifinal match between Gen.G and T1 is likely to be the most anticipated game at the World Championship 2024. Not only is it a battle between two “fierce rivals,” but this semifinal also carries significant historical meaning. For both T1 and Gen.G, they will enter the match with the mindset of not losing. However, victory will only belong to one team, and perhaps no one dares to confidently predict who that will be.

T1 stands before the opportunity to become the first team in League of Legends history to reach the finals of 3 consecutive World Championships without changing their roster

However, for T1, they have the chance to write a new chapter in League of Legends history in a very special way. Specifically, if they can overcome Gen.G, they will be the only team in League of Legends history to reach the finals of 3 consecutive World Championships without any changes to their roster. In the past, it was SKT T1 who achieved this feat. However, between 2015 and 2017, SKT T1 changed their roster 3 times, with only Faker still competing to this day.

Only Faker is the sole player from SKT T1 to remain across all 3 World Championships in 2015 - 2016 - 2017

But T1 Will Not Find It Easy to Achieve Their Goal

The motivation is there, and currently, T1 is in high form, but their opponent is Gen.G – a team that has defeated T1 10 times consecutively in almost every tournament they have participated in. The pressure will be immense, and T1 players may even need to perform better than they did at the World Championship 2023, when T1 perhaps faced less doubt than they do now.

Gen.G themselves are not in great form, but importantly, up to this moment, they are still on track with their goals. The match against T1 will be a crucial one that Chovy does not want to lose again. He has been unfortunate with the World Championship title, and another defeat would continue to cast him as a shadow of the renowned LCK mid-laners who have previously triumphed in this tournament.
