Currently, the largest League of Legends (LoL) tournament of the year is approaching its conclusion. The World Championship (Worlds) 2022 has only one match left to determine the owner of the prestigious championship trophy. Throughout a month immersed in Esports, the global player community has experienced countless different emotions. According to experts, Worlds 2022 has succeeded on all fronts, marking a significant advancement for the Esports industry.
In this year’s tournament, the bottom lane position plays a crucial role. Worlds 2022 has witnessed the rise of marksmen like Gumayusi, Deft, and more. They are all special factors in the gameplay design, often tasked with creating sudden situations to determine the fate of the match.

Today, the League of Legends community held a vote to find the strongest bottom lane duo at Worlds 2022. The list of proposed names includes:
– Lucian and Nami.
– Aphelios and Lulu.
– Varus and Tahm Kench.
– Kalista and Renata Glasc.
– Kai’sa and Nautilus.
– Miss Fortune and Amumu.
– Sivir and Yuumi.
– Caitlyn and Lux.
– Ashe and Heimerdinger.
– Ezreal and Karma.
– Tristana and Rell.
– Jinx and Thresh.
Immediately, the most voted duo in the bottom lane at Worlds 2022 was Sivir and Yuumi. Although they made few appearances in matches, this duo has an impressive record whenever they play together. To prevent opponents from having Sivir and Yuumi, most teams on the second side had to dedicate a ban to the Magical Cat.

Looking at the statistics of each champion, both Yuumi and Sivir have won in the matches they participated in. Yuumi appeared 71 times in the ban/pick phase, was banned 63 times, and was only used in 8 matches. Whenever the Magical Cat made an appearance, the chosen team won that match. Unlike Yuumi, Sivir was banned in only 2 matches and used 7 times, but the Shurima descendant also achieved a 100% win rate. Moreover, Sivir and Yuumi often appeared together after Riot Games nerfed Zeri.

The reason Sivir and Yuumi have become the strongest duo in the bottom lane stems from two factors: good power scaling over time combined with a tight defensive playstyle. This duo is very weak at the beginning of the game, but both champions scale quickly when holding levels and items. They only lose to strong attacking champions like Draven, Kalista, Caitlyn, Leona, Nautilus, and more. However, Sivir has a spell shield alongside Yuumi possessing more combat support spells than their opponents, making this duo very difficult to dominate during the laning phase.

As long as they play cautiously in the early game, Sivir and Yuumi will scale quickly. Once Sivir acquires a major item, the player can clear minion waves rapidly, making the opponent’s chances of attack nearly nonexistent. From there, the players carefully farm minion stats to reach the milestone of 3 major items, entering the golden phase in team fights.
For the reasons above, many teams at Worlds 2022 have been unable to find the weaknesses of the Sivir and Yuumi duo. They chose the safest solution of banning the Magical Cat when playing on the second side. With such impressive stats, Sivir paired with Yuumi truly deserves the title of “strongest bottom lane duo at Worlds 2022.”
