On May 24th (Vietnam time), Saigon Buffalo entered their final series at MSI 2022. Their opponents on this match day were tough names from the Major region: G2 Esports and T1. However, in their first match, SGB impressively defeated G2. This victory not only boosted the morale of the “Buffalo Herd” players before facing T1 but also excited the audience, indirectly putting G2 in a difficult position.
With no goals left to pursue, SGB, while still adhering to the meta and common picks, played in a more “wild” and free manner. Abandoning heavy strategic calculations, the SGB players and T1 delivered a visually pleasing match. Not only did they secure their position on the leaderboard, but T1 players, especially those who have faced criticism recently like Gumayusi, could use this match as a morale boost in preparation for the significant game against Royal Never Give Up.
With the victory over G2 in the previous match, alongside their performances since the beginning of MSI 2022, and having posed some challenges to T1, SGB completed their MSI 2022 journey to the applause of the global League of Legends community. Some even suggest that SGB has made their entire region proud. Many believe that VCS will be a region to watch closely in the upcoming World Championship. Even Faker stayed back to applaud the SGB players.

As for T1, once again at MSI 2022, Faker and his teammates applied the “win lane win game” approach. Of course, with a team as outmatched as SGB, this strategy was executed smoothly, without any major issues. However, the skirmish at the Blue Buff that led to several T1 members going down despite their significant lead over SGB raised concerns among many fans of the LCK representative.

However, the fates of SGB and T1 have been sealed. It can be said that the “Buffalo Herd” accomplished their task very well, and T1 has also made it into the top 4. Therefore, this match was simply meaningful and served as a farewell to MSI 2022 from the representatives of VCS.
