Unlike traditional sports activities that have nearly come to a complete halt due to the pandemic, esports have their unique characteristics and can operate tournaments through online competitions, ensuring social distancing while maintaining events to minimize economic damage.

In fact, in some European countries, the establishment of amateur and semi-professional esports tournaments has become an activity encouraged by the government, aimed at motivating citizens, especially young people, to stay home and avoid the virus, following the #stayhome call.

Recently, Polish President Andrzej Duda thrilled the gaming community with a very charming invitation to join a tournament on TikTok.

The 48-year-old president posted a clip introducing the Esports Granrantanna Cup through his personal TikTok account, and interestingly, he even used meme images to make his clip more lively, amusing young viewers who realized that the leader of a country can also show such humor.

“You kids have been studying very hard, but we should also exercise a bit, right? Come here and join the Esports tournament right from your home; I invite you all to register for the Grarantanna Cup, the link is right below.”

The clip immediately went viral on TikTok with over 447 thousand likes, tens of thousands of comments and shares.

It is known that the Grarantanna Cup is an amateur online esports tournament for students in high school and below, sponsored by the Polish government to encourage young people to stay at home and engage in healthy activities such as gaming.

The tournament includes 4 games for players to compete, including League of Legends, CS:GO, FIFA20, and Brawl Stars (a mobile game).

And perhaps if the president invites you, how could you refuse? Polish students seem very excited by Andrzej Duda’s call, and this tournament will surely receive many registrations from the young gaming community. Who knows, thanks to this tournament, Poland might discover new esports talents in Europe like Giang “Jankos” Văn Cốt?
