Kanavi is facing a major issue related to the LPL
After leaving TES, Kanavi returned to the LCK at the start of the 2026 season wearing the HLE jersey. With the addition of the former LPL star, HLE hoped to rebuild a new “all-star” lineup with Kanavi as the spearhead following Peanut’s departure. However, up until now, the player who almost achieved the Golden Road with JDG has yet to showcase his best form, both as a regular jungler and as a team captain. This, to some extent, may be related to his prolonged time in the LPL.

According to many opinions from the audience and experts, during Kanavi’s time in the LPL, this region did not emphasize macro play in matches. Of course, there were players with this skill, but it was not widespread. The LPL playstyle during that period (from 2018 to 2024) was still heavily focused on mechanics and teamfights. Teams relied on continuous skirmishes, gaining advantages and then snowballing.

Meanwhile, the LCK, especially at this point in time, always emphasizes macro issues. The extremely disciplined playstyle of the LCK has been seen as a counterbalance to both the LPL and LEC. Macro skills in LCK teams are a basic prerequisite for becoming top-tier teams. High skill is just one of the factors; the key is to control the game well, especially during critical stages.
Returning to a team that speaks his “mother tongue,” Kanavi has been away from the LCK environment for too long. In fact, this is his first official season back in the LCK. Therefore, Kanavi has to completely change his mindset, and it’s understandable that this poses challenges for him.

But Kanavi can definitely bounce back
After a challenging LCK Cup 2026, HLE has achieved certain results in the 2026 Regular Seasons. However, clearly, with the loss against T1, Kanavi has yet to demonstrate the necessary stability. Kanavi can definitely improve, and this is perhaps what HLE needs the most right now.
