Recently, Weibo Gaming has been going through what can be described as the worst period since the LPL Spring 2022 tournament officially kicked off. Alongside the dismal performance in the final matches of the group stage, WBG’s internal issues have also come under scrutiny. On the evening of March 20 (Vietnam time), the LPL community was “stirred up” by the news that TheShy was being discriminated against and had to live in the basement of the gaming house along with coach Easyhoon.

Following this, WBG’s management and TheShy’s own mother addressed the rumors. According to WBG, they announced that they would involve legal action against those spreading false and malicious rumors that negatively impact the team’s image and internal dynamics. TheShy’s mother also confirmed that her son is living in good conditions, completely contrary to what the community was worried about.

But while TheShy’s situation has yet to settle, another drama surfaced, and this time the main character is “Vietnam’s Jungle God” SofM. After the match against JD Gaming, SofM and ON played Dread Hunger with SofM’s former teammate from Snake Esports, kRYST4L. However, TheShy’s fans couldn’t understand why they rushed to attack SofM, accusing him of being lazy in practice. Even though kRYST4L explained that LPL players have downtime after the group stage, these overzealous fans continued to harass SofM indiscriminately. Even kRYST4L himself was caught in the crossfire.

In light of SofM being criticized for WBG’s recent failures, the LPL community is also quite upset. Alongside TheShy, SofM is undoubtedly one of the foreign players with a lot of fans in the LPL. Moreover, anyone who closely follows WBG’s matches or has basic knowledge of League of Legends understands that victories or defeats belong to the five players together, and SofM does not deserve to be targeted like this.

It can be said that on the eve of the LPL Spring 2022 playoffs, the WBG team is facing numerous issues, from gameplay to internal matters. If not resolved soon, the chances of SofM and his teammates ending up empty-handed this Spring are clearer than ever.
