Winning MSI but Gen.G Immediately Faces an Even Bigger “Curse”
Recently, Gen.G claimed the MSI 2025 title after a thrilling 3-2 victory over T1, becoming the third team in League of Legends history to successfully defend this championship. Notably, this achievement has allowed Gen.G’s players to reach memorable career milestones. However, the ultimate goal remains the World Championship (CKTG) – a title that has eluded Chovy since the beginning of his career, while Ruler has not tasted glory in this arena since 2017. The only issue is that Gen.G may encounter difficulties because of the very MSI championship they just won.

In the history of League of Legends since MSI was officially launched, only one team has managed to win both the MSI championship and the World Championship in the same year, which is SKT T1 in 2016. Since then, no other team has been able to hold both titles in the same year, even among the teams regarded as legendary in LoL such as SKT T1 2015, JDG 2023, Gen.G 2024, or RNG during their peak with Uzi.

A Series of Titles Await Gen.G to Conquer After MSI
After failing at the LCK Cup and losing their spot in the First Stand earlier this year, Gen.G will not be able to achieve the “Grand Slam of titles” this year. However, they still have the chance to complete a perfect 2025 with EWC, the second phase of the Regular Seasons, and the World Championship still ahead.

Of course, each arena will be very challenging, but Gen.G is currently the only remaining undefeated team in the League of Legends scene. With their current performance, Gen.G fans have every reason to be confident about their team for the rest of the season. However, they must not underestimate HLE, T1, or even KT – names in the LCK that are ready to shut down Gen.G at any moment, as well as the international opponents that Chovy and his teammates will face soon.
