MSI officially announced the launch of the MGA Companion Program in the Southeast Asia region. The program will be widely held in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, providing an opportunity for esports fans to compete in the famous first-person shooter game from Riot Games, VALORANT.

The MGA Companion Program will begin in July and run until November 2021, in collaboration with partners such as ESL Gaming, TheGaming Company, One Up Esports, Riot Games, and VNG.

“MSI has successfully organized the MGA program worldwide for many years, including in the USA, Russia, and China, providing players, whether professional or amateur, a stage to compete with the best and shine. That is the goal of the MGA University Tournament, bringing opportunities for players of college and university age to directly engage in the wonderful world of esports,” said Sam Chern, MSI’s Vice President of Marketing.

“We are excited to host the MGA program in the Southeast Asia region and look forward to the potential growth of the esports community in this area. As a pioneer in the global gaming field, MSI is one of the most trusted brands for gaming and esports. We are dedicated to providing the MGA University Tournament to support the emerging gamers in Southeast Asia and also as a way to give back to the community,” said Tim Lee, Regional General Manager for Indo-Pacific.

With the overall MGA program framework for the tournament, the program in each country remains independent to best serve players in each nation. The program includes two seasons and will closely align with the academic calendar of local schools as much as possible.

Tim Lee also added: “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the learning process and semester timelines, I hope that the continuation of MGA and this tournament will bring a sense of normalcy to most gamers.”
