With less than 24 hours to go, the Quarterfinals of the World Championship (Worlds) 2023 will officially begin. The draw by BeryL has brought forth exciting “China vs. Korea” matches that promise to be thrilling. Notably, for teams like T1 and KT Rolster, their upcoming opponents will be very challenging. No one can be certain of what will happen, and of course, the outcome of the match could very well be determined by the genius moments of the players.

Recently, LPL fans pointed out the 5 players who performed the best in the Swiss round of World Championship 2023. Accordingly, the selected players are Bin (Top) – Kanavi (Jungle) – Knight (Mid) – GALA (ADC) – Keria (Support). It is notable that Keria is the only Korean player to make it onto the list. Of course, this list was immediately met with countless criticisms from the international audience, mainly targeting the 4 damage-dealing positions in the team.

According to arguments, except for Keria, the other 4 players either did not truly perform at “max ping” or had performances that were significantly lacking compared to their teammates or opponents. For example, Bin’s performance could be described in two words: “harmless” in the match against T1. Meanwhile, Kanavi’s performance could be deemed “disastrous” in the match against Team BDS until the whole JDG team woke up and secured victory against their opponents. Many fans even argue that considering just the Swiss round, Oner/Peanut were even more deserving than Kanavi.

Among these 4 positions, only GALA received somewhat mixed opinions. This is because the former RNG star really put in effort, especially in the matches where LNG lost to JDG or LNG won against KT Rolster. Some fans even bluntly stated: “Does the LPL not feel ashamed to make such choices?”.

In reality, considering just the Swiss round, apart from Keria and GALA, the other players have not truly delivered impressive performances. Of course, they still have a journey ahead to prove themselves. But clearly, the LPL fans’ apparent “bias” towards these stars is unreasonable, and the situation continues to spark controversy within the international League of Legends community.
