As a hub for the world’s top players, Korean ranked always showcases groundbreaking experiments and innovations leading the meta in League of Legends. This time, we will highlight some bizarre and unusual duos that have been making waves in Korean ranked recently:
Nocturne + Kayle

When paired with Kayle, Nocturne can farm safely in the early game thanks to both his and Kayle’s healing. Upon reaching level 3, this duo can engage aggressively against the enemy marksman. With the speed from Nocturne’s Q and Kayle’s W, Nocturne can easily approach and fear the target with his E. If interrupted, Nocturne can block a skill with his W to continue attacking the prey. This combo becomes even scarier if the jungler comes down to assist, even just a little bit.

At level 6, this duo can easily call down the jungler and dive the turret: Nocturne will fly in with his ultimate Paranoia, while Kayle and the jungler will deal damage, with Nocturne receiving invulnerability when necessary. If it seems impossible to fight, Nocturne can also roam to other areas with his ultimate and then return to the bot lane to farm.

In the late game, Nocturne can push lanes together with Kayle quite effectively as this duo excels in 2v2 skirmishes. During team fights, Nocturne will play the assassin role as usual, trying to eliminate the enemy team’s carries as quickly as possible.
Zed + Yuumi

Essentially, this bot lane duo relies heavily on Zed’s ability to deal damage. While laning, Zed needs to farm minions, poke, and dodge skills continuously, so Yuumi should conserve her energy for healing him. Yuumi’s role will primarily be to poke and heal Zed, but when Zed decides to go for a kill, Yuumi needs to time her abilities perfectly to shield Zed.

At level 6, this duo has incredible fighting potential, whether in 2v2 or 3v3 scenarios (including the jungler or mid laner). Therefore, mid and jungle teammates should take this opportunity to help Zed snowball in the bot lane. Similar to Nocturne, if Zed can’t secure kills down there, he can also roam with teammates to take Rift Herald and then return to the bot lane.

In the late game, Zed should look to split push to leverage his assassin qualities, while Yuumi can either stick with Zed or accompany other teammates for 3v3 or 4v4 fights.
Kog’Maw + Karma

During the laning phase, with the substantial damage from the E+Q combo, Kog’Maw has many options between holding the wave, pushing, or poking. Especially with Karma’s assistance, opponents will suffer significant poke damage. As long as he is not engaged, Kog’Maw can continuously whittle down the enemy’s health with his long-range abilities.

When Kog’Maw reaches his ultimate, he can clear a wave of minions in one combo, push directly into the enemy turret to poke, or roam with teammates if the opportunity arises. In the late game, Kog’Maw can choose safe angles to continuously poke the enemy. If he hits 2-3 ultimates, the enemy will be left low on health, allowing Kog’Maw and his team to initiate a fight immediately or safely secure major objectives.
