The Format of the LCK Cup Continues to Be a Hot Topic
A few days ago, right before the T1 – DK match, Faker went live on stream and shared his thoughts on the format of the LCK Cup 2026. He seemed quite surprised and expressed dissatisfaction when, at that moment, the Elder group was leading, and if nothing changed, T1 with a perfect record of 5 wins would have to compete from Play-in. Currently, that hasn’t come to pass, but the community remains upset about this format after the group stage has concluded.

This is because, with T1’s victory over DK and Gen.G’s dominating win against HLE, the Baron group officially became the winning group in the LCK Cup 2026 group stage. This means that BRO, with a record of 0 wins – 5 losses, has advanced, and this is certainly not an achievement or contribution from this team.
It should be noted that just before Super Week began, many fans of the teams in the Baron group were concerned that BRO would be the “black sheep” causing their group to fail, and this reality became clearer after the first two matches of Super Week.

Meanwhile, the teams in the Elder group all secured at least 2 wins, and HLE faced a bitter elimination. Of course, when HLE suffered a clean sweep from Gen.G, it was understandable that they lost, as well as the entire group’s poor performance. However, when a team with no wins advances, that is an issue for the tournament.

The LCK Cup Will Likely Need More Adjustments in the Future
Clearly, with it being only the second season of the tournament, the LCK Cup still has many issues to resolve to ensure fair rights for all teams. But for now, HLE fans are probably the most disappointed, as they will not have the opportunity to continue watching their team compete until April when the LCK Regular Season officially starts.
