The “fierce rivals” T1 – Gen.G have contrasting circumstances as they debut in MSI 2025
In just a few hours, the first matches of the MSI 2025 Group Stage will officially kick off. Entering this stage, all participating teams are very strong and ready to compete on the road to the championship. However, the strength of each team, whether they are champions or runners-up in their respective regions, will not be the same. Notably, the top contenders include the LCK duo: Gen.G and T1.
Accordingly, in their very first match, Gen.G will face a tough opponent in G2. In terms of power dynamics, Gen.G will be rated significantly higher. However, G2 always has the potential for surprises, with their unusual champion picks and bans. Therefore, the representative from the LEC should not be underestimated. Moreover, MSI 2025 features a BO5 format, and G2 will likely have strategic plans to force Gen.G to exert their full strength if they want to overcome the renowned European team.

On the other hand, T1 is expected to have a rather relaxed debut day. Their opponent is just CBTC Flying Oyster – a representative from APAC, which surely cannot be compared to T1 in terms of scale or team quality. If Faker and his teammates can perform like they did against HLE or better, securing their first win in the opening match is a given.
Aside from Gen.G – G2, the other matchups are generally seen as having quite a disparity between the two teams. However, for Gen.G, if they can overcome this strong opponent, they may have a “smoother” path ahead. Meanwhile, T1 and BLG are in the same bracket and if nothing changes, they will clash right from Round 2 of the Group Stage, promising a tense showdown.
