Is T1 Really “Victimized” at LCK Spring 2024? An Action by Keria Speaks Volumes

Has T1 Truly Been "Victimized" in LCK Spring 2024?

For T1 players and fans, LCK Spring 2024 has been just as tumultuous as the previous Summer 2023. This time around, they do not have to face the absence of Faker, but the challenges have not let up for T1. According to Faker’s revelations in the post-game interview after the loss to Hanwha Life Esports, T1 faced serious DDoS issues. Although Faker apologized for mentioning the incident after the loss, it does not negate the fact that T1 indeed encountered many difficulties in preparing for this season, especially for the LCK Spring 2024 playoffs.

However, despite having established credibility in the League of Legends scene, some of Faker‘s statements have sparked significant controversy. There are even notable figures in the global League of Legends community who argue that Faker is merely making excuses. Particularly, after Faker’s comments, T1 underwent a transformation, obliterating Dplus KIA and seeking revenge on HLE. Therefore, skepticism regarding the authenticity of the DDoS incident is unavoidable.

“T1 has qualified for MSI and I believe the risk of DDoS is now less than before. I just want to say that maybe LCK/Riot provided them with the best soloQ accounts ever. (If this is their account, it’s almost 99% certain). Frankly, this should be the standard for Worlds or MSI, and I hope they apply it this year. Their first matches on these accounts went straight to Challenger at 1000 LP. Meanwhile, at Worlds, players sometimes have to play over 40 matches to reach Challenger tier.”

Recently, however, an action by Keria seems to dispel all doubts from the audience regarding whether T1 was indeed “victimized” in the DDoS incident. Specifically, shortly after their loss to Gen.G in the LCK Spring 2024 finals, it was discovered that Keria was able to stream and rank normally. Previously, it was believed that this was impossible due to the DDoS incident affecting the entire T1 headquarters. In fact, T1 had tried numerous methods but could not resolve the issue.

Some opinions suggest that if DDoS continued as it did during the playoffs, viewers would still suspect it was a tactic by T1. However, right after the season ended, everything returned to normal, leading the League of Legends community to firmly believe that T1 may indeed have been “sabotaged” for some reason, affecting the players’ preparations.

Moreover, if T1 was truly sabotaged, no one can guarantee that this incident won’t happen again at MSI 2024. According to many T1 fans, the current downtime is a good opportunity for T1 to prepare for MSI 2024, ensuring the best conditions for the players to compete fairly in the upcoming tournament in Chengdu at the beginning of May.
