Gen.G continues to be compared with JDG 2023 and especially with SKT T1 from the past
Recently, Gen.G swiftly defeated HLE with a score of 2-0, becoming the first team in the entire professional League of Legends scene to secure an official spot at Worlds 2025. Thanks to changes in the format, combined with the MSI 2025 championship, Gen.G has completed one of their goals for the second half of the 2025 season early. This victory also allows Gen.G to surpass T1 2022 as the longest undefeated team in League of Legends history. And of course, Gen.G 2025 is now being compared with JDG 2023 and especially with SKT T1 from 2015 – 2016.

Indeed, if we only consider achievements, Gen.G has not yet surpassed the aforementioned teams. Both SKT T1 in 2015 and 2016 won the World Championship. And although SKT T1 2015 could not win MSI to complete the Grand Slam of titles, each position showcased incredible skill and composure.

On the other hand, JDG 2023 is one of the most perfect teams that LPL has ever produced. Yet, they also could not complete the Grand Slam due to lacking the most important title – the World Championship. Specifically for JDG, they are missing one crucial factor: composure at decisive moments.

Chovy is the Answer to the Comparison Between Gen.G, JDG, and SKT T1
And this is also what Chovy and his teammates have been missing in previous years. Chovy is currently the best mid-laner, and that is undeniable. But when people expect Chovy to make clutch plays to lead the team to victory, they can only look at Kiin and Canyon, and now Ruler as well. However, it’s clear that Chovy remains the most important.
Even compared to the current T1, during both of this team’s World Championship victories, it was Faker, not Zeus or Gumayusi, who made the iconic plays that helped the team win. When will Chovy execute a similar play to Faker’s Azir or Sylas? No one can answer that except for Chovy himself.

Worlds 2025 will be a time that perhaps could not be more suitable for Gen.G and Chovy to complete the final title they are missing. But it remains to be seen if Chovy has truly shown that he deserves this title.
