After the draw ceremony for the Group Stage and Play-In for the 2022 World Championship (Worlds 2022) concluded, the global League of Legends (LoL) community began making their own predictions about the outcome of this tournament. While LCK and LPL are considered the two most powerful forces capable of competing for the championship, the LEC and LCS regions appear to be weaker.
As a result, on various forums, the LoL community began conducting polls to find out which names the audience believes could win at Worlds 2022. Of course, these results will only serve as a reference, but they sufficiently demonstrate that the majority of the LoL community is placing their trust in certain names for the upcoming tournament.
According to the poll results with about 3,000 participants on one forum, nearly everyone believes that Gen.G Esports (Gen.G) will win the Worlds 2022. The runner-up of the tournament will be the reigning LPL Summer 2022 champion – JD Gaming (JDG). In fact, the voting ratio between Gen.G and JDG is not significantly different (2.4 compared to 2.7). These are also the two teams highly regarded in this tournament.

Gen.G has been highly rated since they won the LCK Summer 2022 with a devastating victory over T1. Furthermore, LPL has dominated from MSI 2021 to MSI 2022, so it’s not surprising that the community is placing a lot of faith in LCK to reclaim the throne. It’s also worth noting that since Gen.G showed excellent performance in Summer 2022, Chovy and his teammates have consistently ranked among the top three strongest teams in weekly rankings.

Right after Gen.G and JDG are Top Esports (TES), EDward Gaming (EDG), and T1. The fact that Royal Never Give Up (RNG) is ranked below T1 also reflects a subjective voting tendency. Faker and his teammates had an unsuccessful Summer. However, RNG was similar, and the fact that the “Royal Legion” has to play from the Play-In Stage also leaves the audience with little faith in this team.

On the other hand, G2 Esports (G2) and DWG KIA (DK) are also not highly rated. However, these are two teams that can completely cause surprises. Especially when relieved of the pressure to win, ShowMaker, Canyon, or Jankos could make the “big names” above regret their rankings.
Conclusion
The Worlds 2022 tournament is just a little over 2 weeks away from starting the Play-In Stage. All current predictions are merely personal opinions based on the performances of the teams in the past Summer. And surely, the audience is also looking forward to surprising results from all the names that will compete at Worlds 2022 this time.
