After a long competitive season, the League of Legends LCK Summer 2022 has reached its conclusion. The two outstanding teams in the finals are two familiar names: T1 and Gen.G. Unlike the spring season, the summer finals will be much more evenly matched as T1 has not been performing at their peak while Gen.G is gradually gaining confidence. They had a brief interview with reporters:

Question: Gen.G predicts they will win 3-0, while T1 thinks they will win 3-1. How will this play out?
Score: Our current form is very high, so confidence is rising. I believe we will win 3-0.
Polt: Based on our playoff experience, a 3-0 score is very unlikely, so we predict we will win 3-1.

Question: The current meta revolves around the bot lane. What are the thoughts of both ADCs before entering the finals?
Gumayusi: I believe that Ruler is the best ADC this season. The finals will be an opportunity for me to defeat him; my goal is to defeat the best player.

“Prince” Gumayusi is already hyped up!
Ruler: Clearly, the bot lane is much more important in the spring season. I will ensure that I perform much better in the finals compared to the matches in the group stage.
Question: Although the meta is heavily focused on the bot lane, the top lane is still very important. What do you think about the top lane matchup?
Doran: Zeus always plays well and he was selected for the LCK’s first-team lineup. Although he performs well, I will defeat him in the finals because I also consider my performance to be just as great.
Zeus: I think Doran is a good top laner. In the current meta, it’s very difficult to solo kill in the top lane, so I think the top lane matchup will require a lot of thinking.

Question (Ruler and Faker): What do you think about winning the finals since it will determine the seeding for the World Championship?
Ruler: Based on my experience at the World Championship, the group stage matches as the third seed are quite tough, while the knockout matches are a bit easier. I have never gone to the World Championship as a first or second seed, so I cannot comment on the advantages of seeding.
Faker: Based on our results at the World Championship, I don’t think seeding is important. What matters is how we perform on the big stage, and right now, I am only thinking about the LCK finals.

Question (Chovy and Faker): How do you feel about the mid lane matchup?
Faker: This year at the first finals, I wasn’t at 100% performance. This time, I feel better and am very excited for the finals. Currently, the mid lane still plays a crucial role, so I hope to perform wonderfully in this best-of-five.

Chovy: I lost to him last time, but I have a good feeling about this summer split. I hope to play a great match.
Question (Peanut and Oner): What is your assessment of your opponent?
Oner: Peanut shows a creative playstyle in the early and mid-game. I am very surprised by his unconventional jungle pathing, and many junglers in the LCK learn from him. I have also studied a lot about him, so I believe I will perform well in the LCK.

Peanut: I think I’m just ahead in the new jungle path. Oner is a great jungler, and I will need to consider many things. He is very strong with fighter champions, so I will have to stay very alert.

Question (Chovy): Going back to the 2018-2019 period, you mentioned the reasons behind your losses in the finals due to lacking something. Could you share what that missing factor was and how you addressed it?
Chovy: At that time, my missing factor was that I performed worse than the mid laner on the opposing team, and my team was also weaker compared to theirs. I have improved a lot since then, so if we lose, I will blame coach Score (laughs).

Question: Finally, how will the two captains prepare for the finals?
Faker: This year’s finals are taking place in a different region, so it will be more interesting. I believe we are preparing everything the best we can for this best-of-five, and I trust we will perform well. We are doing our best to compete perfectly in the finals.
Ruler: I believe winning the finals will greatly boost our confidence for the World Championship this year. We will win the finals.

The LCK Summer 2022 finals between T1 and Gen.G will take place on August 28th. We hope you all enjoy this incredibly balanced matchup!
