With their victory against T1 in the LCK Spring 2024 finals, Gen.G officially became the first team in Korean League of Legends history to win the domestic tournament four times in a row. This can be seen as an absolute dominance by Chovy and his teammates. Notably, in all four of Gen.G’s championships, Chovy is the only player to hold all four titles. Additionally, this championship allows Gen.G to advance directly to the group stage of MSI 2024 and provides them with ample time to rest and prepare for the upcoming important international tournament.

Recently, South Korean media reported that at the end of May 2024, specifically on the 25th, Gen.G will visit Vietnam. The information cited on News1 from Korea states:
“Gen.G has maintained a partnership with LG Electronics in esports since 2021. After achieving four consecutive championships in the LCK, Gen.G plans to interact with local fans and promote this partnership in Vietnam. The reason Gen.G chose Vietnam is due to the popularity of the LCK here. According to viewing statistics published by the LCK last year, the Vietnamese-speaking region has the third-highest AMA (average minutes watched) after Chinese and English. Compared to the previous year, the AMA increased by 123%, indicating that the LCK is becoming an increasingly beloved esports region in Vietnam.”

Clearly, the LCK also holds the Vietnamese market in high regard, as in recent years, both regions have developed a strong connection. Last year, Morgan also visited Vietnam during a Vietnam-Korea collaboration event. The Fredit BRION team and, more recently, DRX have allowed young players from VCS to join their Challengers team. Additionally, News1 reported that teams like Dplus KIA, KT Rolster… are also discussing visiting Vietnam. However, Gen.G itself has not released any information or posts confirming their upcoming visit to Vietnam.

Right now, many people are bringing up T1. Earlier this year, Vietnamese netizens shared various posts regarding T1’s potential visit to Vietnam. However, after the Vietnamese online community exploded with these rumors, T1 went completely silent.

Nevertheless, some fans commented: “Inviting T1 to Vietnam during a tense season is never easy. Once the season ends, they have to attend events of their partner T1, which complicates things. Moreover, T1 is a major team. If they haven’t confirmed yet and the online community is spreading the news, it could mean they have stopped working on it. Additionally, T1 faced DDoS and other issues recently.”

This assessment is also accurate, as just the “show running” after the 2023 World Championship has frustrated many T1 fans on behalf of the players. Moreover, keeping information secure when nothing has been officially announced is common, especially for a major team like T1. It’s possible that T1 will indeed come to Vietnam in the future, but details will only be clear when the team itself announces them.
