Gen.G Compared to SKT T1 2015
Entering the finals against HLE, Gen.G is still the favored team. After a surprising stumble against KT in Round 2, it feels like Gen.G has awakened, and even when they make mistakes, they do not let their opponents capitalize on them. The finals victory with a dominant score against HLE proves this. At the same time, Gen.G is showing that they share many traits with the legendary SKT T1 lineup from years past.
Gen.G wins with a completely overwhelming score.
Currently, Gen.G can be said to be a complete team with all 5 members, almost with no weaknesses. Moreover, all 5 positions of Gen.G can shine to help the team create breakthroughs, turn the tide, or enhance advantages. Chovy’s champion pool is wide enough to remind fans of Faker from years ago. Meanwhile, Ruler’s return has made the Gen.G bot duo a perfect combination of youth and experience.
The SKT T1 team from back then was also a perfect collective. Every position they had was superior to their contemporaries. MaRin was even arguably better than Kiin in terms of leading the team in-game, but it cannot be denied that Kiin’s top lane skills are increasingly improving compared to his earlier self.
Gen.G currently also achieves perfection like SKT T1 in 2015.
But Gen.G Still Lacks One Important Factor Compared to SKT T1 from Years Ago
It has been an almost perfect journey, missing only the First Stand at the beginning of the year, and Gen.G’s current mission is to focus all efforts on the upcoming World Championship. This is also the title that Chovy, after nearly 10 years since his debut, still has yet to touch. Each passing season has brought only regrets for Chovy, even though he has always played for top teams. And at least since 2022, Chovy’s team has been considered a championship contender every year.
Chovy is very eager for the World Championship title.
If they can achieve the final title of this year, it will be a complete year for Gen.G and Chovy himself. But only if all 5 Gen.G members give 200% of their effort in the important tournament ahead in China.
