This is the player with the most underwhelming performance in Gen.G’s victory.
Recently, Gen.G secured a victory against HLE in the LCK 2025 Grand Finals. It’s fair to say that this result was somewhat expected, but Gen.G’s complete domination was still quite surprising. In fact, Gen.G appeared to have “tested the waters” in their only loss against HLE this time by using Ziggs for their “best Marksman” lineup. However, even with a significant victory margin, Gen.G’s win had a few “rough edges”.
Canyon had a performance that was just average.
Specifically, jungler Canyon had an average performance, lacking in explosiveness and at times putting Gen.G in difficult situations. In this match, Canyon focused on farming and only truly made an impact during team fights. In terms of jungle control or objective competition, he was less effective than Peanut. In fact, in some games, such as the decisive Game 4, Ruler even secured objectives better than Canyon.
Canyon’s form is quite concerning
The reality is that for some teams, like Gen.G, as long as all five players do their job correctly, winning is not a difficult task. For instance, in the finals against HLE, when Canyon struggled or lost objective contests, Gen.G was still able to win team fights, or his teammates would compensate for his mistakes.
Canyon’s form also worries many Gen.G fans.
However, the World Championship is an entirely different arena, and when teams have only one goal to compete for, mistakes like those made by Canyon in the match against HLE cannot happen again. Moreover, even his teammates will eventually be unable to carry him, which could lead to a “disaster” for Gen.G.
There is still time for Canyon to regain his focus. And undoubtedly, Gen.G fans do not want any individual’s decline to cost them another chance at the World Championship title.
