Gen.G’s Leadership Ignites Community Outrage After T1 Loss
Gen.G’s defeat to T1 is still a hot topic and will likely remain so until the new season kicks off. However, the loss was one that Gen.G fans could accept, as T1 clearly demonstrated their superiority. While many Gen.G fans are still lamenting their team’s performance, and T1 fans are riding high on victory, the League of Legends community has erupted due to actions by members of the upper management of the MSI 2024 champions. Specifically, for reasons unknown, the coach of Gen.G Academy posted detailed analyses regarding every ward placement by T1 online.

In fact, the analysis was so detailed that it specified where T1 would place wards in various scenarios. The controversy surrounding this post doesn’t stem from its content since the coaching staff of Bilibili Gaming could easily create a similar analysis. The real issue is that Gen.G is an LCK team, and the only remaining LCK representative at Worlds 2024 is T1. Moreover, with T1 preparing to play in the finals, this situation has left League of Legends fans feeling even more frustrated.

Community Erupts in Debate Over T1
Across various forums, from Korean fans to global audiences, many are baffled by the purpose of the Gen.G Academy coach’s post. If the intention was to train the youth team, there was no need to publish it publicly on social media. And if it was meant to help LCK or Gen.G improve, then such an action is ultimately unnecessary, as everything will change in the new season.

Furthermore, many viewers see this as an act of ‘if we can’t win, we’ll tear down’ and reflect a low emotional intelligence from Gen.G’s upper management. The post remained online long enough for Korean media to analyze it, and for fans from other regions to read it, suggesting that Gen.G was aware of this action but has yet (or chooses not) to address it.

Nevertheless, what has been published is already out there. Both T1 and BLG certainly won’t repeat what happened in the previous match to counter their current opponent. The only issue is that this action has further frustrated the League of Legends community towards Gen.G’s upper management, which has had its fair share of self-sabotage incidents from 2023 to now.
