The first week of the SEA Games 31 Round 2 qualifiers for League of Legends is nearing its end. This week has also seen quite a few surprises. First, the “earthquake” SBTC Esports defeated GAM Esports in two straight games. GAM was the opponent that “Pink Chickens” had never won a single official game against since their establishment until the first day of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers. Then, the “undefeated warrior” of Round 1 – Luxury Esports unexpectedly “fell” to Burst The Sky Esports – an opponent that LX had continuously defeated in both the VCS Winter 2021 and Round 1 of SEA Games 31 qualifiers.

Losing to SE is hard for GAM to accept, especially when Levi and his teammates are considered the top contenders for a spot in SEA Games 31 after CERBERUS Esports only fielded their second team for this qualifier. Therefore, in their rematch against CES, GAM delivered a perfect “unleashing of anger.” This is not too surprising given that GAM had their strongest lineup while CES only fielded a substitute team. However, it is also a great morale boost for the GAM players after their defeat to SE, helping the yellow-black team return to VCS Spring 2022 with a relaxed mindset.
In the previous match, Burst The Sky Esports continued their victory against Team Flash, who were considered the weaker team. In game 1, the gap for SKY was too large, and Marksman Aomine added another pentakill to his record. In game 2, TF managed to maintain a somewhat controllable situation in the early game. However, after a disastrous Baron that left 4 members behind, TF officially lost control of the game to SKY. With their advantages, SKY had no trouble snowballing and finishing the match, securing a 2-0 victory.
With this victory, GAM has leveled their win-loss ratio in the SEA Games 31 Round 2 qualifiers for League of Legends, while also somewhat affirming that their loss to SE was just an accident. As for SKY, this team continues to maintain a good record with two consecutive wins and is looking quite favorable to advance to the final four, provided they maintain their current form. The SEA Games 31 qualifiers still have a long way to go, and opportunities for all eight teams in this round remain intact, with many more surprises expected in the upcoming matches.
