T1 is speeding towards victory in the LCK Spring 2022. Not only are they maintaining the longest unbeaten streak in LCK history, but each match also showcases T1 players’ impressive gameplay. Of course, on their journey, T1 has encountered some luck as some strong teams have not had their best line-ups when facing Faker and his teammates, such as Gen.G Esports and recently, Fredit BRION. However, it cannot be denied that the outstanding performances of T1’s players are the main factor driving them to “soar high”.

Recently, T1’s marksman Gumayusi had an interview after the victory over BRO as he prepares for the final matches of the group stage. Specifically, when asked about the Asian Games 2022, Gumayusi confidently boasted: “Of course, I really want to compete in that tournament. But even though the next match is against DRX, and I might defeat him (Deft), I can’t be sure of my spot. But I will definitely teach Deft who the better bot laner is.”

As we know, the upcoming Asian Games 2022 will be the first time League of Legends is a medal event (in the 2018 Asian Games, League of Legends was only considered a demonstration sport). If the South Korean team can compete and win a gold medal, veterans like Faker and Deft will be able to fulfill their military service obligations without further review.

However, currently, the marksman position is highly competitive with many quality names like Gumayusi, Ruler, and possibly Ghost or Viper playing in the LPL if EDward Gaming is willing to let someone go. Therefore, Deft’s position is not guaranteed. But Gumayusi himself believes that if the LCK maintains the rule that only a maximum of two players from one team can participate in the national team, he will also have a hard time, as Faker and Keria are “more likely” to be chosen.

With his current confidence and demonstrated talent, the match between T1 and DRX in the final group stage game for both teams is sure to be intense. Not only will it be a chance for T1 to set a new record (if T1 wins against Liiv SANDBOX), but it will also establish who is the better bot laner today, the youthful “nephew” of Faker or the “peer” of Faker – Deft.
