Small buff but extremely significant
The biggest issue with the Star Guardian team previously was its heavy reliance on items, especially the Tear of the Goddess. Of course, in patch 10.8, they still depend on it, but the small buff to the Chalice of Favor now restores energy for all champions equipped with it. This allows for more equipment options for this team, enabling you to better utilize smaller items than before.

Additionally, the direct buff for Syndra, with her attack range increased from 660 to 890, though small, is incredibly impactful. It helps this champion avoid positioning errors and minimizes unnecessary damage and skills taken. As you know, the highest damage of the Star Guardian team comes from this girl who loves to play with energy; the longer she lives, the faster your team can annihilate the enemy.

Equipment selection – Tear is the only essential item
Basically, the skill design of the Star Guardian and Sorceress units has high damage, so the downside of these champions is their slow attack speed and very low base damage, making it nearly impossible to charge energy that way. Therefore, to have abundant energy for casting skills and continuously activating the Star Guardian effect, you must rely on whether you have enough Tear of the Goddess.

The two best items that this team needs to have are the Archangel’s Staff and the Chalice of Favor; these two items on the same champion greatly enhance that champion’s mana regeneration, making your team much stronger. The champion with these two items is usually Syndra, who has a maximum energy of only 60, and as long as she can cast her skill, your entire team will deal significant amounts of damage with abilities.

That’s about energy, but the other important aspect is damage items and some situational items. The Sorcerer’s Hat is probably the strongest item you can have as it greatly boosts the damage of the champion that has it. Two other items that can be built from the Giant’s Staff that you should consider are the Storm Bow and Morello’s Evil Tome, which provide beneficial effects that help your team increase damage and better eliminate the enemy’s tanks.
Tips to know when building the team
The Star Guardian has two power thresholds during the process of completing the team; one is when you have 4 Sorcerers and a decent amount of damage, at which point you need to save gold to level up for higher tiers. The second power threshold to reach is 6 Star Guardians; with this combo, your team will have a lot of energy and can cast skills continuously to obliterate the enemy team. To achieve this combo, you need at least level 7 for the best chance to acquire Soraka.

The arrangement of the team is also an issue to pay attention to with this composition, simply because many Sorcerer, Star Guardian units have skill targeting; if you arrange the team incorrectly, it’s very easy to waste skills into empty space. The most basic is to position the team in the corner, placing a champion holding the Chalice of Favor in the center of the team to restore energy for the entire team.

The positioning of the two frontline units, especially Neeko, is also quite important; you can place Neeko slightly outside and not too close to the team, aiming to draw opponents to attack this unit, allowing her to stun as many targets as possible. When reaching level 8 or higher, you can add Lulu for some magic resistance, as well as an additional area control skill.
