In the early hours of October 24 (Vietnam time), the final Quarterfinal match of the World Championship (Worlds) 2022 kicked off with a showdown between DRX and EDward Gaming (EDG). Before the match, DRX was not highly rated as EDG was the reigning champion of Worlds 2021. Meanwhile, DRX was not a star-studded team and also faced many challenges in the Group Stage.

After EDG took a 2-0 lead, many viewers anticipated a grim outcome for DRX. However, with their resilience, Deft and his teammates made one of the most spectacular comebacks of Worlds 2022. After the match, both he and teammate Pyosik couldn’t hold back tears of joy. At the same time, DRX also prepared a birthday party for Deft right on the competition stage.

Not only has DRX become one of the remaining 3 LCK teams in the Semifinals of the Worlds 2022, but they have also set a new milestone for this region and their team’s history. Accordingly, all 5 players who were part of DRX in the 2020 season – the last time this team participated in a Worlds – have made it to the Semifinals. They include Deft, Chovy, Keria, Pyosik, and Doran. Among them, only Deft and Pyosik still wear the DRX jersey.

Moreover, all 5 members of DRX from that year are completely in the running to become the new champions of Worlds 2022. Keria is currently showcasing outstanding form with T1, while Doran and Chovy are playing for Gen.G Esports – the top candidate for the championship. As for Deft and Pyosik, after their achievement against EDG, fans can certainly expect surprises from DRX.
However, the journey for the LCK teams will not be easy as JD Gaming remains – the last hope of the LPL region. In Worlds 2021, it was also three LCK teams facing one LPL team, and the result is well-known. No LCK fans want history to repeat itself again in this Worlds.
