On October 24, Deft and his teammates at DragonX (DRX) achieved a remarkable feat by eliminating the reigning champions – EDward Gaming (EDG) from the 2022 World Championship. Remember that Deft’s DRX was just a team from the Play-In Stage, and not many believed they could defeat EDG.

To achieve this victory, the DRX team had to push beyond their limits and reach a new level. A prime example is player Zeka, who transformed from a control player in the LCK into a true star with champions like Sylas and Akali. Meanwhile, Deft has also made significant improvements compared to his past self.

Even as a player who has been competing since 2014, Deft’s ability to continue improving is already a success. Specifically, when answering questions from the press, Deft revealed that he had not thought about winning the championship; his goal at the 2022 World Championship was to improve his own abilities.

“I have to be honest with everyone that I never thought about winning the world championship. My goal at the 2022 World Championship is to improve myself as much as possible and help my teammates progress. In today’s match against EDG, I could feel that. I truly feel very happy” – Deft shared after DRX’s victory.

If you didn’t know, the last time Deft reached the semifinals of a World Championship was back in 2014 before the 2022 season. During that time, Deft has tirelessly worked in both the LPL and LCK to improve himself and achieve high results at the World Championship. However, success has always eluded this player, even though Deft has sacrificed many things.

It wasn’t until the 2022 World Championship that Deft could return to the top 4 teams in the world in League of Legends. Hopefully, Deft’s relentless efforts will lead to a beautiful ending for this talented yet troubled player in his career.
