Another season has passed, and once again, Chovy has missed out on international titles. Notably, Gen.G has probably never been rated as highly as last year, completely dominating the LCK region. Their victories against T1 were all overwhelming wins. Gen.G not only solved the problem of “missing Ruler” but Chovy also showed significant improvements in his gameplay. However, after MSI 2023 and then at the Worlds 2023, Chovy and Gen.G consistently collapsed at the moments when fans had the highest expectations, while their opponents were also rated lower than the LCK representatives.

Moreover, according to a recent statistic from Riot, in the top 10 players with the highest creep score at Worlds 2023, Chovy is completely absent. The top spot is held by Aiming of KT Rolster with a creep score of 10.7, despite KT being eliminated in the Quarterfinals. Additionally, VCS proudly contributed two “creep farming machines”: Artemis with 10.3 (rank 3) and Slayder with 9.9 (rank 9). All players on the list are marksmen who have demonstrated strong playstyles focusing on the bot lane and possess many AD champions with powerful farming capabilities.

However, Chovy’s absence indicates that even in his specialty of “farming,” he has “dropped” significantly compared to before. Notably, he did not appear to be very effective even when not overly focused on farming. According to VCS League of Legends, Chovy’s creep score is only 9.3, lower than Zeus’s (9.4). Fans candidly commented on Chovy and all 10 marksmen on the list:

– Finished farming to let T1 take the trophies
– Top ADs consuming resources
– This year, Chovy didn’t “farm” but still lost the trophy
– This year, Chovy stopped farming and just carried his keyboard home

However, it can also be seen that none of the 10 players on the list belong to the two teams that made it to the finals, Weibo Gaming and T1. Clearly, gaining a high creep score to increase resources is necessary. However, how to convert those resources into advantages and victories for the team is something that very few can achieve.

Chovy himself has undergone many gameplay changes to no longer carry the title of “king of farming” but still lack effectiveness. The only issue is that he has not been able to elevate his team to the highest podium due to unfortunate slips in crucial matches.
