Alongside major tournaments in other regions around the world, the VCS Summer 2022 – the highest-level League of Legends (LoL) tournament in Vietnam – is currently reaching the final stages of the group stage. However, there is a special point about VCS Summer 2022: as of now, the names that will move on to the playoffs have not been definitively determined.
Perhaps, it has been a long time since Vietnamese audiences have had the chance to watch such an exciting VCS season like this summer, where each team has visibly improved compared to Spring. The determination of the teams has also increased, and we can mention 4 or 5 names that will be contenders for the VCS Summer 2022 championship and a spot in the 2022 World Championship (Worlds). For example, GAM Esports (GAM), Team Secret (TS), Saigon Buffalo (SGB), or even SBTC Esports (SE).
However, there is one name that has brought much disappointment to fans – CERBERUS Esports (CES). Although they have the same record of 4 wins – 4 losses as SGB, the important factor is the reasons behind CES’s defeats. Especially, throughout the Summer 2022 season so far, CES has continued to worry fans by constantly rotating the lineup, without a stable framework.
Recently, CES faced Team Whales (TW) – a team that has also had some good performances and is sitting in the middle of the standings. However, CES lost with a score of 0-2. Notably, in the second game, CES once led the opponents by over 12 thousand gold. However, in the end, CES could not secure the victory despite holding such an advantage.
Witnessing CES’s defeat, many fans of this team expressed their regret. At the same time, player Nguyễn “EGO” Khánh Hòa – the team’s Jungler was also mentioned. During EGO’s tenure, the Jungler position was always considered the strongest at CES. But more importantly, at this moment, both Draktharr and Leash do not provide much reassurance.
However, it is almost certain that EGO will find it difficult to return in the near future. Therefore, CES must strive to prove to fans that they can still play well without EGO. And the best way to do this is to secure a spot in the playoffs if CES does not want things to spiral into crisis.
