On the Finals day, the elder statesman of the FPS gaming scene – Bomman was also present to join in the vibrant atmosphere at Viking Hoang Hoa Tham. Witnessing the dominating performance of Fancy United, the caster quickly expressed his excitement while also conveying his belief in the strong development of VALORANT in the future:
Hello Bomman, how do you feel about the atmosphere on Finals day? Is it what you expected?
“Fortunately, I feel that the atmosphere at Viking Hoang Hoa Tham is just like the Esports vibe I desired. At the Finals, both teams had incredibly enthusiastic supporter groups. Despite the terribly bad weather in Hanoi that day, fans still came in large numbers. This is truly the atmosphere that should exist in professional Esports tournaments.”

What impressed Bomman the most about this competition venue?
“Speaking of the atmosphere, that’s it, but to evaluate the competition venue and the preparation efforts of the Organizing Committee, I haven’t rated it very highly. For me, the ideal competition area should be larger because the number of spectators supporting is extremely large. I noticed that many people even arrived late and had no seats, unable to reach the 6th floor due to the overwhelming number of fans.”

“Of course, we also have to sympathize with the Organizing Committee because they surely did their best. The weather, the pandemic, and the venue, Viking Hoang Hoa Tham was the best choice. However, I think a larger space like Viking Tran Phu would probably be more reasonable. If they are still open.”

How does the offline organization of the VCT make people in the FPS community like Bomman feel?
“I think offline tournaments always bring emotions to Esports disciplines, especially in FPS games. Only by watching offline do we get that passionate, vibrant feeling and can immerse ourselves in the emotions of the players. Not only for the audience, but players also have more goals to compete for. In front of the audience, they will have more motivation to win, more ‘trash talk’, and even more pressure to strive harder.”

“And of course, playing Onlan will create a fairer competition environment among the participating teams. Using the same network system, hardware, and receiving direct support from the audience will hone the players’ competitive experience, especially in upcoming tournaments. Currently, the pandemic has been relatively controlled in Southeast Asian countries, tournaments are gradually returning with increasing frequency. Therefore, teams need to gradually get used to the Onlan format to avoid being caught off guard in the future.”

VCT 2022 – Stage 2 has seen many exciting events, such as the number 1 candidate CES completely failing against FCY. Did Bomman feel surprised by this result?
“Actually, I wasn’t too surprised. Once you reach a Finals match, the skill levels of both teams are quite similar. There will certainly be no clear disparity. In VALORANT, aside from strategy, the flow of the match also depends on how ‘on fire’ the players are. The team with more players performing exceptionally well will find it easier to win.”

“For instance, with Fancy, they had many players who were very ‘on point’ during today’s match. I believe they will continue to perform well if they maintain this form. Of course, in matches, we can’t predict anything. It’s still Fancy that, when leading 2-0 in VCT 2022 – Stage 1, they couldn’t maintain their victory. Just as long as the opponent ‘wakes up’ in time, the result could have shifted in another direction.”
What does Bomman think about the development of VALORANT in the future?
“I see VALORANT is being widely adopted in Vietnam. It’s easy to notice that many gamers from other games are shifting towards VALORANT, including female players and even those who have never been exposed to FPS games… It’s hard to find a game that can attract such a diverse audience. Therefore, it can be concluded that VALORANT is an easy-to-play game with stable interaction.”

“I just hope that more VALORANT teams from Vietnam will perform well in upcoming international tournaments. We have the necessary conditions, now we just lack the sufficient conditions. Achieving results against international peers will help the VALORANT community in Vietnam gain recognition and develop significantly in the future!”
Just as Bomman stated, right after the crowning of Fancy United Esports, the VALORANT discipline in general and the VCT 2022 – Stage 2 Challengers VN season in particular have received a lot of attention from audiences nationwide. Indeed, after the success of Esports at SEA Games 31, Esports is gradually being positively received and spreading more strongly than before.

Thus, the journey to find the most promising candidates for VALORANT in Vietnam has finally concluded with the three best names: CERBERUS Esports, Fancy United Esports, and Team Big BAAM. In a short time, they will be the representatives of Vietnam competing in the VALORANT Asia-Pacific Regional Finals.

Once again, we thank Bomman for his heartfelt insights on the spectacular competition day of VCT 2022 – Stage 2 Challengers VN. Finally, congratulations to Fancy United Esports for a convincing victory, and we hope that the representatives of VALORANT Vietnam will achieve outstanding results in the upcoming season!
